These are called puzzle switches. Basically each is its own cross over from one switching lead to the other. They haven't been in active use for at least 50 years or so. Dumb Railroaders kept blowing them up because they were, well, puzzled and couldn't figure the fuckers out.

A glass window is an opening through which light passes and the world on either side is visible.
A glass mirror is a surface that reflects light and provides self reflection(pun intended).
Shattered, neither performs well at their original task. However, lamination provides protection from completed obliteration, web shattering allows for continued limited use and prevents serious injury.
All in all i see a positive aspect to the artistically captured image.

Planes,train & automobiles all have windows and mirrors. All capable of travel.
Unfortunatly ‘lamination’ of the heart and soul is only possible by experiencing emotional challenge & hardship. An unfortunate side effect of lamination is cynicism and pessimistic scepticism. If you can tame these two things and properly trust your lamination, life has boundless fun and wholesome adventure to offer.... Allegedly...
Supple flexibility also works instead of lamination, but it too, takes time to master.

I did read somewhere the other day that: “Hope is the 1st step toward crushng disappointment”... That did cause me to laugh.
Lifes like a box of chocolates....... Just keep knawrring away at it and enjoy the good.

Holding on to a shred of hope is better than despair but I will say I got to a point in my life where I said "the consequences be damned". I knew I was on a bad path and said give up on hope, go into the unknown. I left safety and comfortable behind. I am all the better for it.
