The playground is a great place There's only a couple people I've ever gotten snarky w/ and let's just say that being a military spouse I can sniff out the BS quicker than most and I called these two people on it...

If you read and spend any amount of time here, you'll see that pretty much everyone in the playground is friendly. I hope that if you have been one of the unfortunate few who hasn't been treated well, that things will only get better for you. Oh and btw... welcome.

Hazing ceremony? As long as you're a gentleman with the ladies (until you've been given permission otherwise), I think you're safe from all of that.
As for being a noob... we were all there once. Just keep an open mind and be yourself. You'll be an old hand before you know it.

I'll throw my two cents in and just say that lit is much like life in the respect that it is what you make it. Some people feel the need to be nasty and snarky around here and well, they reap what they sow.
If you take the time to get to know the genuine people in the lit community I am sure that your time here will be rather fulfilling.
