Rum

I'd drink it neat too, but I can't seem to get rid of the lighter fluid after taste.:D

Seriously. I'm a wimp when it comes to alcohol.

What do you like in coffee? I like Amaretto and Frangelico.

I'll dig up my recipe book of coffee drinks and put them in the recipe book for you.

I will mix Amaretto with brandy, but probably not with coffee. For coffee, I like Kahlua, Bailleys, Whiskey, Brandy, Rum, and Frangelico. Just not all at once.

Sure. I like to add a shot of amaretto and the usual cream and once I got crazy at a restaurant and requested frangelico. I'm not a huge hazelnut person, but the real thing in coffee was divine. Also as a shot alongside coffee is good too.

Do you drink eggnog, Lance? What do you like in it? Oh. Dumb question: whiskey for the Scot!

Actually rum is my fave in eggnog. The sweetness brings out a better flavour. The book is stored away, but I'll find it and revive it for you.

My new favorite with coffee, hot chocolate, or eggnog is Tuaca. Actually, it's rapidly becoming my favorite with just about anything!

Now my favourite rum drink involves 2 parts dark 100 proof rum stirred gently with 151 proof Jamaica white rum and poured over cracked ice.

I like rum in it, not that I actually do it often. Brandy was too sharp, but then, it was cheap brandy, so that might not be fair...

Never heard of it. What's it like? What's it made of?

Aren't you supposed to be studying????

Ahhh, is it a little Appleton's Special dark and some Wray and Nephew Overproof you be talkin' about mon? Truth.

I was studying with great interest the concept of 2 parts 100 proof dark rum with, I presume, 1 part 150 proof light ... is there really that much of a difference? Is it sort of like mixing de-caff and caff coffee? or white and dark chocolate?:D

Much, much more interesting than whether LBJ stole his senate election.

Try Courvoisier if you're going to try a fortified wine. Cocnac is far nicer in eggnog or warmed in a snifter to release the bouquet and inhale it for a buzz. Another one I've tried is my fave Drambuie. That curls the hair on my sporran.

I bought some cognac once! Talk about curling things! Was HORRID!! Again ... might be that price point thing. Some things you just can't do cheap. I thought Drambuie was a liqueur? Sweet? I'm wrong? Darn. Stuff's costly. I looked when I was getting my rum the other day.

Somewhere around here I have a recipe for hot buttered rum and just as soon as I can have sugar again, I'm making some up. Man, that stuff is good.

Ah! Here it is:

Hot Buttered Rum Cocktail
Prep Time: 10 min
Inactive Prep Time: 1 min
Cook Time: 10 min
Level: Easy
Serves: 10 to 12 servings

1 stick unsalted butter, softened
2 cups light brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
Pinch ground cloves
Pinch salt
Bottle dark rum
Boiling water

In a bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Refrigerate until almost firm. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the butter mixture into 12 small mugs. Pour about 3 ounces of rum into each mug (filling about halfway). Top with boiling water (to fill the remaining half), stir well, and serve immediately.

No, it's more like mixing full caff with espresso...

And forget the Senate seat...when I was in high school, we questioned how he got the presidency. Ever read "MacBird?"

Ahh. So now we know where Emeril gets all his good recipes! ;)

Yep. This is the one I've been using. All the other ones had so little sugar as to make it not worth the effort. I can highly recommend this recipe. :)

I can't forget it until after the final because Box 13 and South Texas party bosses will be on the exam. The prof spent at least 20 minutes of his one hour jet-tour lecture on it.

Never heard of "MacBird". LBJ as Macbeth, huh? :)

Yep. And you can imagine where it goes from there. Actually was performed Off-Off-Off Broadway in a little theater in Greenwich Village in '64.

yes, it was published. I have one buried at home somewhere...(If anyone is looking for the
60s, I think they're in my basement).

At least with all the 60's kids approaching retirement, students won't be hammered with New Age obsessions any longer. Now it will all be about life before AIDS.

I don't know...with 60 being the new 40, you might have us hanging on for another quarter-century. And before you mouth off again, it has nothing to do with denial; we know we're getting better, not older.
