I think our wants or needs, like ourselves, evolve and change overtime. When I first discovered literotica, back in the early 2000's it was just a place to read/share stories and see what other people fantasized about, I don't think the boards even existed, or at least weren't as popular as they are now. As I grew older, I enjoyed chatting with people, made some friends, but then as real life became more complicated those people drifted, or I did, until it was back to just reading stories. However the reason for reading changed, it wasn't to "compare notes", so to speak, but as a release for a sexless, loveless marriage. Now, I'm unsure what I'm looking for here, I still enjoy the stories, although they sometimes feel a little empty. Would it be nice to chat and build new friendships/relationships?...of course, but would that, by the nature of the site, limit any interaction to strictly online, or would there be other opportunities. No way to tell without trying and discovering where it leads. I think the nature of the site brings people together primarily for their interest in sex, but people stay and meet other people and become friends, or lovers because we're all social animals.
