Actually JBJ is correct on this particular point, sad to say.

Species are the tools of genes.

It's an argument people don't like to embrace because the thought that we're really nothing more than fleshy little cars to carry around a string of pyramidines and purines is a horribly bleak thing to contemplate.

and I still disagree, because we're actually talking about viral DNA versus society.

The virus obviously seeks replication but it must do so in as symbiotic a manner as possible and 'selfishness' (if such a human derived 'emotion' actually applies) has a diametrically opposed gene in 'altruism' as part of the same organism. So you, JBJ and Dawkins are saying that the virus is actually paying no attention whatsoever to its host nor the necessity of 'society' for its survival which is patently absurd.

Society is a 'cleverer' organism and if there's gene it doesn't like it gets rid.

Seeing further by standing on different hips: all fours are no good - get rid.

Move north: black skin's no good - get rid.

Further north: dark hair's no good - get rid

These things don't happen to one person, they happen in a society, a larger organism, so who has the greater control here? Who's zooming who?

quite the contrary. Anything that isn't detrimental is left alone and gets disseminated.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Humans are an offshoot of hominids. Chimps are an offshoot of hominids, the only cross referencing is in ancestry after these millions of years. they are different species. They aren't even close enough to reproduce across that boundary.

Neanderthals were a species alone and are extinct.
