Me? trying to make you jealous? I wouldn't ever think about doing that ONLY because I cannot be one of your rope bunnies ..... I mean, I am a very nice person .... :p

But to tell you exactly what they had at the store: yuta ropes of different thickness: from 4.5mm to 8mm (sorry no idea in inches); and different colors: standard color like black, natural, white, red, and than pick, pale blue, purple and I cannot remember anymore ...LOL. And "horse oil" to treat them and keep them. And of course same color and then some in the syntetic silk material, but this came in only one thickness.

Oh, and they also had a lot of nice colored candles for wax play ...

Yesterday I did a fireplay demo and last night had folks back to the house to play... I can't imagine why but I spent most of the night lighting people on fire, slapping cups on bodies and doing devil's fire... :D Sorry I don't have any photos to share but when I'm playing like that, the last dadgum thing on my mind is "stop what you are doing and take a picture!"

I have GOT to remember "Photo ops, mister! Photo ops!" *LOL*

If the kink stores had rope you'd be paying twice the price you could get it at normal retail.

Got to your local hardware stores. The big box chain stores like Lowe's and Home Depot have bulk stuff cheap, your smaller local stores may have more materials like jute and hemp available.

Try farm supply/feed & seed/garden shops.

Moving supply places like U-Haul or Public Storage...

MARINE (meaning Boating) supply shops. OMG, they got rope in all kinds of color and materials and thicknesses... Yum!

To go from mm to inches, multiply the mm by 0.04 and you'll have a rough conversion. 6mm is about 1/4" and 8mm is around 5/16". 4.5 mm is useful for hair, face, and hand bondage, but will hurt if you use it for load bearing.

Horse oil is very common, but some people are allergic to it (and some have issues with the animal origins. There's a vegetable based product that works very well (and smells good) but I can't remember the name for it off the top of my head.

Silk, synth or not, feels good, but has stretch issues. Not an issue in floor play of course. Cotton is the same way.

I want some natural fibre rope, dammit!

6mm conditioned yuta in crimson, 2x40', 2x20', and 2x10' (or whatever standard lengths are close. Hell, I'd be fine with 6x10m.)

That is what Homburg wants for Christmas.

I would really, really LOVE to come to one of these demos. Maybe I should suggest it to our local group, see if I can get interest in it. We regularly bring in folks for demos. No idea how much money is in it, but they do tend to do lodging and expenses and stuff.

If you're interested, I'll give em your contact info. Not sure if it is too far for you to drive though. I think it is about 6 hours.

That's just it. I hit Lowes and the like for synth rope. Can't beat the prices you pay for solid braid there. I picked up 140' of 1/4" solid braid nylon for under $25 after tax. Nice.

I want natural stuff though, and all the big box stores carry is sisal, manilla, and other nasty stuff. I want hemp or jute, and not crappy hemp or jute. I have found that there is a local major rope supplier, and I plan to hit them up soon. They're supposed to have a good selection, or can at least source the stuff. Theeen all I have to do is condition and oil the rope an dI'll be good to go.

I'll give the feed and seed and marine supply stores a shot. So far, I've hit one boating store, and all they had was assorted poly crap. Same with the tack shops. I just haven't had good luck with it lately.
 
I will have to take some photos of My work too. Nothing elaborate yet but I will do more soon.

I hit their site, and went to the natural rope section. The 3kg spools of 6mm premium grade hemp just called to me. Damned good price too. Sure, I'd have to condition and finish the rope, but whatever. It's not that frikken hard to whip ends, toss the rope in a washing mashine, and oil it, damn.
