I thought that there has been a thread on this but the search function is being mean to me. Anyway I was given an assignment to google notical knot tieing and learn some new knots since I'm so fond of making floggers.

So I found this one and it looks like it has a lot of potencial.

http://www.boatsafe.com/marlinespike/sheepshank.htm

The man-o-war version looks like it might be a good start if you did that knot in the middle of a strand of rope and made sort of handcuffs out of it, then took the ends and proceded to bind the subbie the rest of the way.

What do you think?

I think you'd be a hit at the local Boy Scout troop meeting!

Looks fine to me. I was thinking, though, that another site that might have what your looking for is the Boy Scouts.

Sweet! Thanks guys, I'll look at those sites tomarrow, as right now it's past my bed time.

I also found refference to a "5 min rope flogger" that rj posted some time ago. I think I've just about mastered that, and I don't even have a subbie to help me like he sugests. :p

And I think I've just about mastered this sheepshank, so that's like 3 knots already. I think he'll be impressed when I show what I've learned. :cathappy:

Ask Shy to teach you the quick release cuff I taught her . She does -not- however have my permission to post my diagrams again . She is mean and she will use them to make fun of me.

*Sobbing noises from this corner of the world*

No please no. Not that. Anything but that.

You are a cruel, cruel woman.

Than again, if it happened i would just have to buy some more to replace them :catroar:

Maybe it is worth posting those pics.........

Oooooh, cool! Someone was teaching using marlinspike rigging at Shibaricon, but I went to something else.

Now I have even more of a girlcrush on you, I LOVE a bottom who can teach me new knots!

We have a book titled, "The Seductive Art Of Japanese Bondage" by the renowned Midori. It's a really good book with techniques from moderate to intricate and with good drawings and instructions. It also discusses rope choices and even the motivation behind bondage. Some of the techniques are the simple chest harness to "open leg crab" to the "knotted tortoise shell body harness." Good stuff.

I know that isn't exactly what you were getting at but thought I'd toss it out there.

Oh, and I'm not being a smartass at all, but when you do your google search spelling is critical so use nautical. You might already know that, just noticed it spelled wrong in the initial post and that skewer your results obviously. :)

 yeah it fixed me.

I've always had an interest in rope and rope bondage so this is actually a very fun assignment for me. I don't know if I wish more to be being tied up or for a subbie of my own that I might tie up.

There was a shop I worked in for a while, and there was talk around there of a guy who did rope dresses. These dresses were totally street leagal from what I've heard. I would love to see something like that and I would love to try and master that art. So far I've only been able to practice on myself making rope bras, but it's been fun and each time I get a little better at it.

The "rope" I tend to use is a decorative cording you buy in the fabric store. I get the middle thickness, I'm not sure what the actual size is but it looks like maybe 8mm. Anyway it's very soft and I can usually find it on sale so 10 yards of it will cost me about $2. But even at regular price 10 yards is rarely over $5

Oh yeah, duh! Google does do that for us doesn't it? *slaps forehead* Thank goodness too because it's "fixed" me plenty of times. :D

I like to buy cotton rope from the home improvement stores. We use 1/2" for body bondage and either 3/8" or 1/4" for the more, um, intricate rope work. ;) I recently tried my hand at dying some rope for her and she loved how it turned out. Plus, it is always nice to use things you've made or customized. And it's a damn sight cheaper than buying "bondage" rope! I had pictures but they showed my genitals so they got removed. :(

Say would you happen to have the ISBN # of that book around? Sounds like something I would love to pick up. Weirdly enough some of the best rope I have found for binding has been from Wal-Mart.

I myself will soon embark on an implement so fierce , so scary nay so terrifying I am uncertain whether to mention it at all lest it causes a submissive rebellion !!!!!! The idea posed as if from rock, the hard place, like a wind from Guilderland and sweeps by blown far homeland , an implement in search of glory and honor, and though I walk in the garden of turbulence.

Yes , tis true . I bought a box of bunny pelts at auction recently . They will make lovely soooooooooooooooooft mitts........ :chuckles :

sub rebellion? sounds more like it would cause a sub frenzy to me. :cathappy:

I'm finding that I'm enjoying making toys that I know will hurt like no other. I seem to be walking down the isles in the craft store and hardware stores looking for things that will have more sting and more bite. I think I'm learning an apreciation for those sinsations where before I would avoid them and seek out more thudy and textile feelings. Right now I'm on a hunt to find the perfect combination of both thud and sting. A heavy sting if you will.

House bricks on bungee cord, no need to thank me ....... :)

Now back to the serious stuff

YAY soft bunny fur.........

The pelts work out at approx 50 cents US each. Not sure I am going to enjoy stitching hide though. May take some research.

As I recall Wench you did this shopping for kink frenzy once before when Sir Face had the thread in Talk. Fairly certain you weren't the only one either.
