Alright time for some ignorance to show here. While I love tying and using silks and ropes. Any bdsm links or names for the knots or styles to tie in?

I have never found them anywhere and really would like to. I have lots of pictures of the styles I like but no names to go with them and the thread about positions made me wonder about this.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, MV

M-V,

Have you looked at Wizard's Links thread in the Library? He's got some nice rope links in there, I believe.

It's under the category, "links" *grin*

I've got some rope links of my own...I'll dig them up for you.

I looked but didn't find exactly what I was looking for the first time thank you Anelize you helpful librarian you. I will go a hunting.

Here's the one I was thinking of in particular. Great tutorials, and more rope links.

The only down side is it's a bit on the "corny" side if you don't like the whole japanese theme and I never could figure out how to turn the music off, so make sure you turn your sound off or down.

So, you didn't say, did that site fit the bill of what you were looking for?

I've sent a few people to it and so far people have liked it. I wish they'd ditch the music though. LOL.

Yes, exactly what I was looking for. I'm going to go a hunting for a few other links as well but this was splendid and thank you.

Wizard's links are very, very good. That is excellent advice!

I've always heard that silk (scarves, etc.) are bad to use for bondage because the knots can be pulled too tightly and they cannot be easily released in an emergency situation.

Which is why you are never going to play with ropes, scarves, etc. without a good pair of shears, preferably of the "paramedic" type (they cut through anything, including wire) near to hand.

They can be found in most of the good toy catalogs...the Stockroom etc.

Yep, no Dom should leave home without them!

Haven't looked at it in awhile so not sure if it is of any help, and not internet, but thought Jay Wiseman's 'Erotic Bondage Book' may be helpful.

Ah, no wonder Daddy insists on bringing the river knife along even on trips where we won't be going kayaking!

I like my leather restraints and different metal connectors. I can see the artistic value in rope, but restraints are so fast and versatile, plus you never have to worry about nerve damage or circulation problems.

So just how *does* one use scarves or ropes to tie up their online subs? (he says with tongue firmly planted in cheek)

I agree here. My former Dom used to use leather restraints, and he would connect them with the metal clips that mountain climbers use (I don'y know the name, but they are very strong, and quick release).

I have seen some exquisite rope bondage, but for the Dom/me with limitied time and patience, leather restraints do seem a whole lot easier. Plus, you can easily connect them with chains, which not only give a whole different feel to the bondage, but feel great against the skin on a hot day.;)

I know how to do the tying, I just can't chat anymore afterwards. The rope blocks the monitor...

Thank you Etoile....:rose:

I knew someone around here would know what they were called.

When I took rappeling in ROTC, the instructor started with the basics. "This here's a rope, sometimes called a line. This here's a carabiner, aka, a sex clip..."

At the time I was so clueless I had no clue what he meant.

LOL.... I think that instructor must have liked ropes on many levels... work and play!
