im new to the rope play would like to learn if anyone has some links for knot tying or info on a websites that would be great

Have you tried googling 'bondage tutorials' and similar terms? There are some great sites, and even YouTube videos, out there.

Also, head on over to the BDSM Talk forum to check out the bondage section of the BDSM Library sticky and some of these threads, including Homburg's Ropework thread.

Last, but by no means least, make damn sure you know about bondage safety and always have a pair of safety/paramedic shears standing by. It's not that tough to cause permanent nerve and other damage by restraining someone the wrong way. If you're doing self-bondage, be extra, extra careful. You should be able to get a basic idea of safety tips by googling 'bondage safety,' but taking classes/workshops and learning from very skilled, experienced bondage gurus are also good ideas.

Google David Lawrence. He does both amazing rope work and amazing photography. Not that that will help you with the basics, but it's inspirational.

twistedmonk.com has a couple of tutorials online, and sells high quality rope.

And as Erica says, never forget the EMT shears.
