No, they only play that way.... Every decent player they get gets traded, don't they?
I wouldn't know, since the strike I quit following hockey. I honesty thought the Blackhawks was a dead team, never to be resurected from the ashes of the NHL.

Yeah me too, when I was 12 or 13. The golden age of hocky. :D
What year did they last go to the Cup, when they were swept by Pittsburgh? 1990 or '91? That's the season I saw them play.

I hear ya... I haven't even looked at the standings at all this season. I couldn't tell you who's good or not this year at all.

No! They played against the Avs in 96

Holy smokers! That was still when they had, what, six teams in the whole league?
About that, the golden age. Four US teams and two Canadian teams. Sweet.

By that time I'd moved to Wisconsin and didn't really follow much outside of our college team.

Wait, aren't the Hawks in the West? They might've played for the Conference Championship against the Avs, but they couldn't play in the Cup against them... or am I not thinking of the right era?

I can imagine the game must've been hard-hitting and quick, once upon a time.... Same number of good hockey players now as there were then, I'm sure... figure 100 really good players? Back then, they'd all be split up and there'd be 15-16 good players on a team... now? Maybe 3 on a team?

The Blackhawks back then had two tremendous lines. Bobby Hull, Red Hay, Stan Makita, Robby Hall. Those were the big names, the other line I really don't recall their names, but they were just as great. And Nobody wore helmets or masks, except the goalie. That was hocky and they were men.

Goodness! Let's hear it for men! :nana: :nana:

*giggles*

:) Very cool! (Though I'd most likely go for a Bret one... never saw Bobby play.)
Meet Bobby once, he gave a talk at my high school graduation and after the ceremony stuck around to sign autographs, no charge.

Oh yeah. Now a days you'd have to pay 50 bucks or more for an autograph. Shit.

*shaking my head* Yeah, times like these make one truly appreciate old school stuff. I think that's why I tend to follow college sports more closely than the pros....
