After recently promising to end funding for beloved Sesame Street character Big Bird, Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is now refusing to take questions from children on a Nickelodeon special, Kids Pick the President: The Candidates.

“By answering kids’ questions directly, candidates show respect for kids,” host Linda Ellerbee said. “We are disappointed that Mitt Romney wouldn’t take the time to answer the questions, but are thrilled that President Obama participated in the special.”

Obama had the balls to face kids questions, not so the "Great White Hope."

At a campaign event in Denver the next day, Obama blasted Romney for refusing to close corporate tax loopholes and ruling out raising additional revenue to balance the nation’s budget.

“And when he was asked what he would actually do to cut the deficit and reduce spending, he said he’d eliminate funding for public television,” the president explained to boos from the crowd. “That was his answer. I mean, thank goodness somebody is finally getting tough on Big Bird. It’s about time.”

“We didn’t know that Big Bird was driving the federal deficit,” Obama quipped. “Elmo too.”

The company has released a statement that said, “Sesame Workshop is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization and we do not endorse candidates or participate in political campaigns. We have approved no campaign ads, and as is our general practice, have requested that the ad be taken down.”

The Big Bird kerfuffle revolves around remarks that Republican presidential candidate former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA) made during the first debate of the 2012 election cycle, in which he said he would pull funding from PBS in order to cut the deficit.

Oh the horror of campaign season. :) Not even Big Bird wants to sully his feathers with politics.

Mitt Romney is a lunatic, never before have I seen a more batshit insane individual running for a position of such high authority.
If he gets into power, I genuinely fear for the free world; he isn't suitable to be in that position, hell he isn't suitable to be in any position other then tucked away in a straight jacket banging his head against a padded cell.

I do like Obama, though. A friend was telling me about a radio broadcast he'd done, talking about the Tristates; he did come out with some funny querks though. For example, "I think I'll increase the drinking age in Kentucy from 21 to 30; that way people in High School will stop drinking." And another about Married couples and cousins I don't entirely recall.

But stuff like this just shows up Romney. He's like Bill O'Reilly or that lunatic woman in (I think Alaska) who runs around with a shotgun daily who also was in Politics (probably still is), though her name escapes me, she was quite popular in the media of late, however. Sarah something, I believe.

In fairness, the political situation isn't exactly going swimmingly this side of the Atlantic either. Pissing Tories/Lib Dems need a damn slap. If Labour gun in next Election we'll be up to our balls in shit once more to.

Still, hell of a story, thanks for posting. ;)

Fuck Nickelodeon. Crappy programming designed to make America's children really fucking stupid.

So Romney should waste his time, yes, waste, yacking with a group of adolescents whose collective wisdom and knowledge you could shove up a gnats ass without discomforting the gnat.

The guy above me must've been born old, like Benjamin Button. Except he ain't getting younger as the years go by.

Yes, his time would be better spent with aging bitter white seniors like you and Amicus, whose collective wisdom and knowledge you could shove up a gnats ass without discomforting the gnat.

What is it with you and veteman and gnat's asses?

You didn't do any of those things.

Sure I did. Who cares about kids and politics?? That's irrelevant. How a candidate interacts with prospective voters (like at a televised debate), now that's relevant.

Media says I am accurate too. They called Obama a flop, that he lost, and said he acted like he did not want to be at the debate. Google it.

As for meaningful, see points 1 and 2 above (I did not number them, but you'll find them).

Its all because Obama doesn't have anything else to do.
He has failed at doing anything to improve the economy or reduce the deficit.
He has even given up trying....so, he may as well go play with the kids.

You're absolutely right, Ishmael!

How dare we try to push the man into explaining the electoral process and discussing important issues with children in an attempt to educate them and teach them a little something about how our government works!

What the Hell were we thinking?

The bum is still working...how about a bit more concentrating on getting people to work and let the teachers we pay educate the kids on government

It's nothing more than an (almost) Jerry Sandusky equivalent of kissing babies. And it's not education, it's nothing more than stump politics, street theater.

Nice try at the 'educational' spin though moron.

Of course, if Obama had dissed the kids instead of Mitt, the so-called proud, freedom-loving Americans here throwing shade on freedom-borned American children would be on their third watery ejac load of the day from stroking all over the snub.

...buuuuuuuuuut since it's Mitt and since it's just kids, they're not important to the process. Except when conveniently used as victim material for the future ramifications of the national debt and all that shit.

The bum is still working...how about a bit more concentrating on getting people to work and let the teachers we pay educate the kids on government

Which 'bum'? The one in the White House, the one attempting to get into the White House, or the one Ishmael's attempting to think with?

See Ishmael? I can throw out insults, too... moron.

Right, 'cause Romney wouldn't waste time getting to know 'the people', even if they are just kids... would he?

Obama was thinking they would all just sit and nod, and above all, wouldn't pin him down with embarrassing questions.

Speaking of 'spin'... we're not talking about the President, we're talking about his opponent in the election.

the one in the white house...he is still being paid...he is not on leave right now

But... 'the government doesn't create jobs'... remember?

And, as I said, we're not talking about the President, we're talking about his election opponent.

Would it really hurt Romney to talk to children and attempt to mend a rift (that he created) so kids, and their parents, won't think him an unfeeling monster?
