I love that show - have enjoyed both seasons very much. And yes, they are definitely showing some "rough" sex this season.

OMG! I loved the first season! but I don't have cable so I actually watched it off of a site that Jounar sent me a link to and now that site isn't working. :(

I loved it so much I was thinking about shelling out the money and buying it on dvd. May have to now....both seasons.

but, uh, what was it if not kinky when octavian and octavia had their little bedtime adventure last season?

and was it wrong of me to be a little bit aroused when servila was being tortured by atia?
 
watch

i noticed..............i watch it religiously........but as a former history major with a focus on roman history.........the show is pretty accurate.........rome was a sex charged empire
 
I don't get HBO but it looks interesting. I figure I'll see it at my library in a boxed set one day.

It has been hot since episode one but you're right now it is has brought BDSM/D/s into the mainstream.

Dunno, we watched a couple of episodes and weren't that thrilled by it. As for bringing D/s into mainstream.... I don't think so as BDSM was not around as we know it in that time, though some of the practices we now participate in resemble some from various parts of history, just with a different context and motivation. I'm just not a big fan on calling everything D/s just because some acts resemble modern day D/s...different context, different lifestyle, different meaning, different understanding, and different times.

Yeah, but apparently they went out with a lot of gusto. I read an interview with the creators, and they said they took a lot of creative risks. By "creative risks," I'm hoping they meant more naked men.

How about Octavia and Sevilla? I'm not usually into girl on girl action, but that was pretty hot.
 
I love this show, only rivaled by Deadwood. Both of which only lasted two seasons on HBO wich sucks. They both cost so much to put on so HBO cant afford to make anymore. I think Deadwood would have 2 2hour movies no word on how Rome will end.

I like the evolution of the relationship between Verinus and Pullo (spelling?). They started off hating each other and until recently were always together. The episode last season when Pullo was in the gladiator pit was awesome. The one last week with the Gangs of New York like battle was good as well.

uhhh... isn't Deadwood on it's third season? And I know they're doing a movie to clear up the cliffhanger.

I'm glad they existed at all, even if it's only for a couple season each. Sucks more when something's canceled unexpectedly after just one season...

Another good one that HBO cancelled after 2 seasons was Carnivale. Excellent writing and characters!
 
It was either two or three but crappy that it is done.


Rome was great last weekend!
