Bruce Woodward was a Desert Storm veteran, a squad leader in the Airborne Rangers. After his discharge from the Army, he went to technical school, learning how to fabricate and weld steel and sheet metal. His first project was restoring a dilapidated Harley Davidson motorcycle. A 1980 Low Rider, it had been abandoned in a Philadelphia warehouse. It was his pride and joy, and led him into his career.
Bruce's name got around, and his custom motorcycles were in great demand. In time, his shop had 4 full time metalworkers and a backlog of work. He also led a fast-paced lifestyle with plenty of partying and heavy drinking.
Returning home from work on a Friday afternoon, he was only a mile from home when he pulled out to pass an eighteen wheeler. He didn't realize that the truck was following an elderly couple. their car turned left to enter a driveway and Bruce had nowhere to go. When he woke up in the emergency room, he learned the extent of his injuries: multiple fractures of both legs, several broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and a variety of bruises and contusions. He went through numerous surgeries and hundreds of hours of physical therapy. Even after he was released from hospital, he needed hours of therapy every week.
The therapist assigned to him was named Heather. Her husband had left her a year earlier for a 19 year old college girl. Heather was embittered and generally hated men as a result. But Bruce had a lot of charm, and he slowly got her to open up. At thirty one, she was still a strikingly beautiful woman. Bruce was forty one, and the accident had shown him the need to make some serious lifestyle changes. Heather kind of grew on him, and she felt some kind of bond to her patient. As he neared the end of therapy, he realized that he would miss her. At the same time, he wondered if he could melt her frozen heart. One day, he was Heather's last patient of the day. On the way to their cars, Bruce decided to take a chance and asked if she would join him for dinner and drinks.......
