Stories that are erotic romances - what are some of your favorites? What elements do you like to see in them, or have you ever read a non-erotic romance which you would love to see redone as an erotic romance?

Me, I love science fiction, fantasy, and historical romances the best. (real world=yuck) I was just re-reading one of my favorites, which involves all the mages of one society creating a heartsnare, an object which is then put on display or sent out into the world where it will attract the mage's soulmate and repel everyone else. To the soulmate, the object will radiate an impression of the mage's personality and attraction, while others will feel a mild aversion to the object. Now the passage first describing the heartsnares came shortly after a passage about some very sensously-described furs. So I was idly thinking, what if the heartsnare itself had been a piece of fur, and then the soulmate who found the heartsnare found the attraction radiating from it so sexy that they decided to masturbate with the fur... Didn't have any more plot ideas than that though. That's always my problem, I'm terrible at plotting.

But anyway, what would you all like to see in erotic romance stories? :nana:

What, nobody has any romance preferences/ideas? :catroar:

Well, here are some general likes of mine. I like:
- captor/captive romances, as long as they don't get mean/violent
- pet/owner romances
- beauty and the beast romances, where one person is a freak with a bad rep and the other is a popular person who is unusually open-minded and sympathetic, and decides to sacrifice their popularity to be with the freak.

What do you all like?

I guess I, personally, am not much of a romance fan. (I keep getting these scary images of Harlequin novels in my mind!) Sure, I love erotica! Just don't like my sex too mushy! lol

So, when I see "captor/captive" I think of BDSM and D/s. While it doesn't have to be "hardcore" or rape, I sure don't see it as "lovey dovey". And when you say "pet/owner" I see D/s again... :)

Interesting. When I see captor/captive I think 'trust issues' - this is a fun type of romance because even if the characters like each other, they have good reasons not to trust each other, and of course trust is an important part of building a relationship. For the captor there might also be social pressure to act like a hardass and certainly not lose his/her heart to their captive. Or if the captive is one of many he/she might also be under social pressure to maintain solidarity with his/her co-captives. And defying society to be with one's beloved is a staple of romance.

I dunno about mushy, but basically I'm not interested in reading about meaningless, anonymous, casual sex, I want to read about sex where the characters are falling in love and want each other badly enough that they are afraid of rejection but willing to defy opposition to attain their heart's desire. I think that makes for a much more powerful story than if the characters' emotions aren't really involved.

I kinda am partial to the cinderella type romances (think Pretty Woman or Pride and Prejudice sp?) where the girl get's swept off her feet. I also like the kind of romances where the meet after being in relationships where something has happened to test them and they are fighting love. Like he looses her in a tragic accident and she was in an abusive relationship and they both want nothing to do with the opposite sex but somehow love finds a way. The sex is just a bonus item in those cases though but it comes out so passionately and beautifully

Here, on Lit, you ARE talking BDSM

Hallowed Eve is right. If you're taling owner/pet and captive/captor then in Literotica you're talking about BDSM or sci-fi/fantasy. While you may find such romances in the romance writer's section of a bookstore, here you'll find those in BDSM and Sci-Fi/Fantasy. So if you're looking for romance where there is a pet/owner, look to the BDSM section--you'll find it there. You won't find it in the Romance section here.

What you'll find in the romance section here is stories where the characters are equals if opposites (there in is drama and tension--over coming being on different sides) who find romance in getting to know each other, usually in romantic settings. Candlelight, a walk in the moon light, etc.

Anything that MIGHT be considered romantic is fair game. I have a story where the characters find love and romance as they eat chile dogs. I have another where they find romance locked in a bare bedroom. The talk is romantic, the setting is somehow romantic. But there is no (or little) dominance and submission.

I think you'd find a lot of stories to make you really happy if you checked out the BDSM section. Just because it's in that section doesn't mean that there is no romance to the relationships. Other sections here have a lot of romance in them; it just means that there is a different balance to the relationship and focus when it comes to story.

3113 - Actually I would be much more interested in the fantasy/science fiction stuff than in anything in the BDSM category. I don't read that category on any forums because I don't like violence, and I also don't like modern-day settings. Tha only kind of domination/submission I like is the mutual nurturing kind, like between a leader and his most loyal follower, where the dom has no desire to hurt the sub and is not an angry or superior asshole and the sub is into being loved posessively, not into being hurt. Since there's no way to identify the few non-violent, loving BDSM stories I basically have to avoid the whole category.

Can you write a romantic/erotic story about.....

I recently put a post out requesting for someone to write a story about a ebony female who works in a bank. She is 25 years old and hse secretly fantasizes about a older white guy in his late 40's. She has dreams everynight about this man and when she see's him she nearly cumms all over herself. She sometimes sneeks into the bathroom and masturbates to him. I was wondering if you can make this story come to life.

Self Promotion

I hate to self promote, but I just submitted a Romance story that posted last week about a guy saving a girl from being attacked. I thought it would be cliche for them to fall for each other, but maybe someone close to her . . .

I like Romance stories with a sharp twist (which is how I wrote Hero's Reward). 3113 did one of the best I've seen with 'Til Dawn. If it's just two people meeting and falling for each other, I'll only read it if I'm bored. It will probably vary for everyone, but like 3113 said earlier, it has to have some kind of tension.

I'll self promote: Awakenings It is a BDSM romance. Not hard BDSM, because the female is in training, but it is a romance.

I love romance and write it all the time. My romances are either in the erotic couplings genre or they are in the romance category, though I weave romance into most all my writings, so even in Mature and Interracial I have them. I guess you have to look for them throughout Lit. because I think you'll find them everywhere, it is knowing what authors to read, I guess.

Not all of mine are romance, some are "stroke" stories, but not many.

Some of my stories are romantic, particularly "Heavenly Night", "Susie In The Midnight Sun", and "Untouchable". The first is a period piece, the 2nd one with a BDSM twist, and the third involves infidelity, but it is still done in a "romantic" way.

And, while not my best work, "Capturing My Sister" has a capture/romance angle, where a brother falls for his sister (and his partner) after deprogramming her from a cult.

The Epistle stories with me and Red, which I am writing the next chapter of, are also rather romantic period pieces.

And my girlfriend writes a lot of incest with a romantic bent. She is called "Amasterfound".

Jessy19 also does a lot of romantic incest.

Would "Gone with the Wind" count as a romance? I'd love to see the erotic scene between Scarlett and Rhett...

Romance Me

I love multicultural romance. The cultural conflicts give romance that extra spice and kick for me. My Behind the Masks series and the follow up are BW/WM erotic romances.
I also like sci-fi romantica quite a bit. Thank goodness for places like lit and e-books.
Finding multi-cultural romances before the net was damn near impossible.

Romance is always my core motivation no matter how pornographic the end results.

I think that would count and an erotic scene between them would make a hot celebrity story too.
