Full story here:
Researchers say that millions of Jupiter-sized planets are wandering in our galaxy far from any star. The findings suggest that there may be twice as many planets as stars in the Milky Way, perhaps several times as many.

No ties to a star! No solar system! These Jupiter-sized planets are on the loose and there's twice as many of them as we thought there were! Aaaaah!

Oboy! A cosmic pool table! Imagine the size of the cue. Rack 'em! :D

So, they're stars that never ignited?

Yep. Rebels.

Well...not quite...

They just didn't have enough gas. :D

In order for a protostar to initiate fusion, it must have enough mass to create gravitational pressures and temperatures at it's core that will allow for hydrogen to fuse to helium. For minimum sized stars, it depends on the makeup of the gas. A protostar of pure hydrogen (not possible) could start fusion at a smaller mass than a protostar made up of both hydrogen and helium.

In general, given that protostars have at least a minimum of about 23% helium by mass (the percentage created at the Big bang), the minimum size protostar that can start nuclear fusion is about 8.3% of a solar mass (one solar mass being the mass of our sun).

One solar mass is about 2 times ten to the thirtieth kilos.

So the minimum mass of a star is about 1.65 times ten to the twenty-ninth kilos.

The mass of Jupiter is 1.9 times ten to the twenty-seventh kilos.

So a protostar would have to be about 87 times the mass of Jupiter to initiate fusion.

Jupiter sizes planets just don't have enough gas!!

The Universe ends tomorrow, how much gas do they need?

It's now tomorrow and I'm still here.

Wait...it's today! That explains why I'm still here.

Tomorrow! Tomorrow!
I love ya, tomorrow!
You're always
A day away!!
