I understand but there are ways that Trump can force the issue before the SCOTUS in record time.

I agree with you on the principle of deterrence, but I don't want to see critical legislation delayed while we die on the hill of deterrence.

And the executive branch doesn’t have authority over the Judiciary. I am Tired of people that complain when someone disagrees with the Cheeto. I mean If he wants to ignore a lawful order by a court that is well within the purview of the court then I guess Those executive orders are as good as as the toilet paper I use To wipe myself. Those aren’t law anyway. I cannot Wait for y’all to be crying when all of your civil liberties are taking away thinking it was not going to affect you. Viva la revoluscion!!!!

Why have a president? The president's role is pretty well defined, primarily to enforce the laws passed by Congress. The office has a few powers outside of that (e.g. pardon power), but really can ONLY act within the laws passed by Congress, and only if those laws are within the bounds of Congress's constitutional authority.

Federal judges, as members of the judiciary, have the power to interpret those laws and determine in what ways those laws empower the President to act. They also have the authority to determine where the Constitution limits the actions of the President in enforcing those laws. So yes, a federal judge absolutely has authority over the executive branch.

At least in theory. Their ability to enforce their decisions is pretty limited when faced with an uncooperative executive. At that point they are dependent on the force of public opinion and, as a last resort, the legislative branch exercising its impeachment authority. Both seem unlikely to have much effect on the current administration.
