I am currently working on a full body harness which I will publish once I am able to test it more thoughly. I have the basic design down and feel it is structurally sound. Haven't seen anything like it yet, so it should be interesting.

4. I taught you so you could perhaps encourage 'brownie points' with Andante
5. I have no specialty software or drawing pads ( unless you count paint basic) nor for that matter do I own a mouse just a tiny weeny track pad
6. You got all woosey and submissive on me as I was teaching you......lol
7. I am neither a competent teacher or a Nawashi ....doh
8. If you post any of my diagrams on this site or else where you are (with Andantes permission ) going to know real pain .........laughs

lol. Actually, working on this body harness has proved rather interesting and dificult at times.

I have experienced wedgies that would make a 6th grade bully jealious.

What makes it interesting is the further I go the less mobility I have, limiting me. It also forces me to come up with some kind of escape built into the harness. As long as I have one hand free I can work the escape, but for a person who would have both hands tied, it would be hard to use it, but not impossible in case of an emergency.

The new AV may look like rope, but it really is just me playing around. Was in kinda of an abstract mood while painting. The thought of my rope looking even remotly like that tangled mess is just painful.

Silly as it may sound I treat my rope with a degree of respect. Tangles are a refelction of the one holding the rope. I have made the lay of the rope a part of my constant focus when working with it. The effect of this has been ingrained with every movement while handling the rope from the time I pick it up, to the time I coil it and put it away. For me it part of the mental and physical discipline associated with the art form of Shibari.

For some this might be a bit overkill, but for me its part of what I enjoy. One thing is for certain, once you see me pick up the rope, you immedaitely know or can sense I know exactly what I am doing, as there is purpose in every movement I make. You can see I am not guessing at what I am doing or going to do next. The confident movement of practiced hands are evident. I may not be a master, but that which I do know, I know, and I know it well. For me that is where it is at.

When I think back to when I just wrapped our hands together, in that moment there wasn't really any thought of neatness, but more of just doing it.

I imagine that if presented with the exact same situation again today, the wrap would no doubt look neater than what I did the first time. I think this would happen not because I was concentrating neccessarily on the neatness though, but because when I practice with the rope, I make that a conscious part of my training/practice so that, when the time comes for doing real, this part almost becomes second nature and I don't have to focus upon it as much. Leaving me free to focus on other things, namely the one being tied and my own feelings.

For me the point of practicing is so that when such times comes, I can enjoy the expereince more, knowing that my hands are moving with pratcied skill. Alot like when I learned how to shoot a bow. When your out hunting, your focus is on the prey, your surroundings and your instincts and not on the mechanics of drawing back and aiming the bow. After practicing enough, that motion is automatic and is done without thought, but it is done with skill none the less. The end result is enjoying the expereince more.

I am sure that F has already acheived a level of skill, expereince and knowledge that allows alot of it to be second nature to him. I am sure once I have more expereince under my belt, my perspective will change and mature as well.

There's a bed I want so badly I can taste it. It's wood with a steel core and has metal, um, loops in every cornor plus an extra one on each side, and a frame that comes up like a canapy with the same loops. I can also order steel bars to go across the canopy for even more posibilities. Some times I pull up the pic and just think about all the posible positions for me to be tied to it and what the tie-er could do to me in such position. *purr* some day

When I went to a rope demo not long ago, what I expected to get out of it was some ideas for tying up my escape artist husband and I did. What I didn't expect was how beautifully interactive the demo was. The Master never stopped touching, and talking with the person he was tying. The level of intimacy and trust was incredible. This was clearly not his sub but someone else's in the room and yet he was able to form a tight bond with her that had nothing to do with the ropes. I could feel the power exchange, respect and trust flowing between them and it really touched me in a wonderful way. It reminded me of the feeling a really great performance gives me with my audience.

The whole thing made rope play much more interesting to me. I've always mostly seen using rope or restraints merely as a means to an end but now I see it can be so much more than that. I feel so enhanced by having been to that demo.

In a way, I can see ropes as part of meditation too.

LOL, he's a bit rusty at the moment but that is my fault, but changing slowly I hope...I find it so frustrating to be in this place and time. I don't think it is so much maturity as much as practicality. When doing a body harness, full or partial, there is a lot of rope used and to remove it, there is a lot of threading through over and over until all unwound which makes it near impossible to wind up as you go....which then means to tidy it into its previous state would require stopping once the harness was completely undone, taking the time to put it back as found, during which time the moment is disturbed/broken and usually lost.

I thank my lucky stars for the gent who taught me the larks' head zip tie though, if I could draw this it would be great, this is SUCH a neat, fast way to cover a lot of distance and do a mummification style tie.

Yes the Larks' Head is actually the basis for this new harness I am creating. Very handy and quick too. Definately one of my favorites.

Here is an interesting trick in using the larks' head zip. You know how you twist the rope in both hands to create the loops(1/2 Larks)....and then add another twist(full Larks), if you put in a thrid twist and then pull it taunt you get a braid effect with the rope. $ twists is about the limit though and I like using three the best because it functions exactly the same, but add just a touch of beauty to the knot. Let me know if you agree?

It is all lovely, makes great pictures and we all know that practice makes perfect. None of it, though, helps RJ with his real, underlying problem. This problem is much greater than learning to tie pretty knots & is very much harder to solve.
