Rivalry 2

Mak practically ran home which was only a couple of blocks away. She flung herself down on the bed and after staring at the ceiling for a while, she drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, she dragged herself out of bed and took a long shower. She changed into a pair of jeans and a navy blue halter top. She slipped on her flipflops and tied her hair back in a curly bun. She put her sunglasses on her head and headed out to her car. She sat in her car for a moment and took a deep breath before driving to the field.

On her way, she drove by Drew's house and noticed his car was gone. She figured he was already at the field.

She arrived at the game and met her fellow soccer players. They stood against the fence where they always stood. She tried to have fun with her friends, but she kept looking over at Drew who was talking to his teammates on the team bench. She wondered if she should go talk to him and wish him luck.

Drew

Drew and his teammates were talking strategy for today's game when he saw Mak out of the corner of his eye. Drew got noticeably distracted, so one of the guys asked him if everything was OK. Drew responded that everything was. What Mak did was something a guy never, ever told another guy.

The anger he felt last night returned within him. He could forgive Mak - maybe. If she made the first move. Alex, however, never.

Mak's friends noticed that she was watching Drew and one of them said, "Why don't you go talk to him? Usually, you'd be running over to talk to him and make googly eyes with him." She shook her head and got up from the bleachers. She pulled her sunglasses down over her eyes and walked towards the team's side. She stood at the fence and watched Drew, unsure of whether he would want to talk to her.

Alex

We met up at the school as normal. On the ride over to the game, the coach went over the starting lineup and then talked strategy for the game. It was a perfect soccer day, slighly overcast, and a bit cool. I thought I'd be able to run for ever today. I slept wonderfully, awoke refreshed, ready to go. Plus, I knew Mak would be at the game. I had no idea if I'd have a chance to talk to her...though at least I'd get to see her, and give he a wave or something. Of course if I get the chance, I will definitely talk to her.

I shook my head to clear it, and refocused upon the up coming game. After all, as the Captain I have to set the example and the half-backs get to run the most and set up the plays. With my normal pre-game hyperness pounding through my veins, the bus pulled in and we made our way to the field.

I immediately saw Mak standing along the fence behind the other team. I was surprized to see that Drew seemed to be ignoring her. Oh well, that's their issue...we made our way onto the field and starting doing some team warm-ups. We've found when we all warm up together it sets our minds into acting as a unit, rather than as a bunch on individuals...well it's worked for us so far, as we are having a record breaking season.

Drew

One of Drews teammates tapped him on the shoulder and pointed to the fence where Mak was. His teammate said, "Looks like she wants to talk to you, man. Obviously been crying too, sunglasses on an overcast day and all. Seems like you've been distracted. Go over there and clear the air. It'll help you focus for the game."

Drew walked over to the fence with a simple and unemotional, "Hi."

Mak kicked at the dirt and then replied, "Hi."

They were both avoiding each other's glances in silence. She finally spoke up and said, "How can I make it better? If we need to go to the locker room and finish what we started then let's do it." She laughed a little as if was a joke, but she was serious. She tried to lighten the moment. "I just don't want you to be mad at me." She leaned against the fence and said with a little anger, "If you want to break up with me then just do it. Don't just stand there and not say anything."

Drew

"What you did hurts a lot. A lot." Drew replied. "I am quiet because I am mad at you right now but I'm trying not to hurt you back. That wouldn't be right. If you want to work through this, just meet me after the game."

Then Drew went back to his teammates. The game was getting ready to start soon.

Mak just nodded and walked back over to the bleachers as the game began. The teams took the field and the ball was tapped into play.

Both teams played hard and the rivalry was obvious with foul after foul. The teams were equally competitive which made it hard to predict the winner. Both captains tore at each other as they fought for the ball. Mak cheered with her friends as their team stole the ball and rushed it up the field. Drew served the ball quickly and his teammate headed the ball into the goal. Mak cheered and yelled, "Alright, Drew!" The buzzer sounded for halftime and the teams headed off to the locker room. Mak headed over to the locker room to congratulate Drew on a great first half.

Drew

Drew ran and fought hard that half. It was an intense game. Just what Drew needed to blow off some steam, and the fact that they were up 1-0 had him pumped up. Drew saw Mak as he went off to the halftime. He was so involved in the game, he couldn't worry about relationship issues at this time.

"Helluva half, wasn't it?" he said to her and kissed her on the forehead as he was jogging by. "See you after the game."

Alex

The game was going according to plan, well execept they snuck one through. We have essentially stimied their offense. I was thinking of adjustments to make as we ran off the field. Our locker was just down the field from theirs and I saw Mak. I had slowed down so I was one of the last into the locker room. Seeing Drew just peck Mak on the forehead was a bit of a surprise. Mak looked up and I caught her eyes. With a huge wave, starting from my lips, as an exageratedly thrown kiss and a huge smile, I filed into the locker room to hear what the coach had to say.

Feeling a little brushed off, Mak went back to the bleachers.

After halftime, the teams were energized and the competition was emence. Drew's team slipped up and let a goal whiz by them minutes into the second half. Time went by as the teams battled it out all over the field.

There was 5 seconds on the clock and Alex had possession of the ball. He lobbed it up the field and it was retrieved by his teammate who sent it flying into the goal. Alex's team and crowd cheered as the buzzer went off. They had won it.

Mak just shook her head in shock. She could see how pissed Drew was.

((By the way, I flipped a coin to see who should win.))

Drew

Like the rest of the team, Drew was frustrated with the loss, especially after holding a lead at halftime. Been a pretty lousy 24 hours for him. On the way into the locker room he kicked a pylon that was laying on the field. In the locker room, he kicked one of the trash cans. It made a terrible racket as it rattled around.

Drew showered and changed and walked out to meet Mak.

Alex

We were all elated that we were able to extend our record breaking season even further. We went through the hand-shaking custom with mock humility and as soon as we reached the sidelines, again started celebrating. I was one of the last through the line and as I turned I scanned the bleachers for the lovely visage of Mak. I spied her and hoped to catch her eye, though with her sun glasses on and the animated discussion of her friends around her I was unsure of my success. We gathered up our bags and equipment and started making our way to the bus. We'd have the opportunity to shower, etc when we got back to school, since we were so close.

I scanned again seeing Mak still in the bleachers, obviously waiting for Drew to come out. I saw her face lift and look over toward the few of us left. I heartily waved and then jauntily threw her a kiss. Her face momentarily lit up before locking back into the closed expression she'd been wearing earlier. I didn't understand what was going on.

Oh well...

Mak saw Alex as he was getting on the bus. He waved and blew a kiss. For a moment, it was nice to feel something other than a cold shoulder from someone. She still didn't understand why she had said his name, but she knew that if she still wanted Drew, she needed to put Alex out of her mind.

She noticed Drew and she said goodbye to her friends before heading over to him. She walked over to him and paused a moment before hugging him, "I'm sorry about the game."

Drew

Drew finally hit the wall, figuratively speaking. All of the negative emotions from the past 24 hours, plus the intensity of the game, had caught up with him, and he was worn out. The blow up in the locker room was what he needed to get the loss out of his system. He hated to lose the game but, as much as he hated to admit it, they had won fair and square.

Coming out of the locker room he saw Mak. He wasn't sure how he'd react at this time, but he didn't have the energy to hold a grudge. Mak came up and gave him a hug. He was too tired to say anything. He just hugged her back, melting into her arms.

Alex

The ride to the school was great. The entire team was basking in the glow of our win. I was a bit distracted though. I found all I could think about was Mak, how she didn't look happy and how much I absolutely loved dancing with her last night. It brought me back to when we were together, only at a whole new level as we have both matured, perhaps changed. I found myself wanting very much to see her again...tonight. I had no idea what parties she would be going to or if she was going to spend the evening draggind Drew out of the doldrums. I found I didn't really care all that much..I just wanted to see her, even if it was only for a half hour, to see if there was any flame for me still there.

After cleaning up, I called Lucy. She poked fun at me for my feelings over Mak, mostly in good fun. Luckily, she likes me and has maintained her friendship with Mak, and agrees to play the intermediary...just this one more time. I jump on my motorcycle, feeling everything is right with the world and make my way home. As I pull up I feel my phone vibrating in my pocket...it was Lucy calling to tell me that if I want to see Mak I'll have to meet her at her favorite restaurant at precisely 5pm. I told Lucy that the time was great for me as it was only 4, and our town wasn't that big. However, I pressed Lucy for something more specific regarding the restaurant. It has been a few years since Mak and I went out and lets face it we were pretty young, and back then McDonalds was considered a restaurant by the both of us. Lucy, continued to play me for a few minutes and then took pity on me and told me that if I could guess it, she'd tell me if I was right or wrong. I was amazed, I got it on the first guess. I ran into the house, to check my appearance. Put on some cologne that I recalled drove Mak wild, grabbed my spare helmet in case I can wrangle some extra time from her and sped off.

My heart was pounding a mile a minute. I was really excited about the opportunity to spend even a few minutes with Mak, alone.

Mak hugged Drew, but was suddenly started when her cellphone vibrated. She jumped a little and said, "Sorry." She looked at her cellphone and she had a text message from Lucy. She read the text message that just said, "911.... Call me!" She looked up at Drew and said, "I have to make a phone call. It's Lucy and she says it's an emergency." She kissed his cheek and moved away from him so he couldn't listen in.

She called Lucy and Lucy clued her in about meeting Alex. She needed to see if she was having feelings for him again, but she knew it would be impossible to leave Drew without lying. She walked back over to Drew and said, "I'm sorry. Lucy's car broke down and she needs me to come pick her up. Forgive me? I'll call you tonight, ok?" She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him softly. "We need some time with each other later, if you know what I mean?" She winked at him and jogged off to her car.

She drove to the Sweetwater Cafe which was her favorite restaurant and the place that she and Alex had went on their first Valentine's Day together.

Drew

Drew knew that something suspicious was happening. Lucy was always stirring up trouble, and Drew suspected that Alex was involved. Only problem was, he didn't know where Mak was going. He thought about following her, but that would likely lead to more problems. Besides, he was too tired, anyway. He went home to grab a nap before the evening with Mak, if it ever occurred.

Alex

I arrived at the Sweetwater Cafe about 10 minutes early. Luckily, nearby was a store and I was able to find a single yellow carnation, remembering that Mak loved flowers in general and carnations specifically, when roses weren't the correct choice. I had just gotten inside when I saw Mak drive up. I got a private table for us, putting the single flower in front of her seat and then went back to the door to escort her in.

I'm sure I was beaming when she walked though the door...at least my face hurt from smiling so much. I immediately took her hand, bent over it and kissed it, saying "my dahling how wonderful it is to be back in your presence dahling." I put her arm over mine, pulling her close to me "walk with me dahling, your beauty just makes this place spahkle dahling..."

As we got to the table I slid out her chair, and held it for her, pushing it in as she sat down. When I came around to my seat (the seat next to her at this round table) she had the blossom up to her nose. "It is just a very small token to say thankyou for taking the time to join me." Mak had closed her eyes as she smelled the flower. I noticed that she had tensed up, and when she opened her eyes I watched her visibly relax. I figured that I had just cleared the first hurdle of the night...she hadn't walked out!

Her beautiful eyes captured me, and without any thought, I let myself be captivated, and took her hand in mine as we sat there together, not saying a word. It was another of those timeless moments, much like dancing with her last night. I knew that I wanted to spend as much time with Mak as possible.

The moment was broken, as all such moments must be eventually, by the waiter asking us, possibly for the second or third time, if the look on his face was any indication, if we'd like something to drink. I defered to Mak, and she ordered, then I got a coke.

"Do you have time and the inclination for dinner?" I still held her hand, and noticed that she was leaning into me as I was leaning into her. The question seemed to startle her a bit. I realized I had just reached the second hurdle....

Mak was visibly nervous when she arrived at the cafe. It took all of her will power not to turn around and run back to Drew. She took a deep breath before retouching her lip gloss and getting out of her car. In her mind, she was contemplating all of the repercussions of her lying to Drew and meeting Alex. With a push off the side of her car, she walked over to the entrance of the cafe. She glance inside and saw Alex waiting for her with a yellow carnation. She couldn't help but smile as she finally entered the cafe.

He was obviously happy to see her and that made her feel at ease. He kissed her hand and she remembered how charming he was. She couldn't help but blush.

"My dahling how wonderful it is to be back in your presence dahling. Walk with me dahling, your beauty just makes this place spahkle dahling..."

They sat at a very nice private table. He took her hand and for some reason she didn't want to pull away. They sat looking at each other for what seemed like a blissfull eternity. They tuned out the world, but were soon broken out of their trance. They had ordered their drinks and he asked if she wanted to have dinner. She paused and weighed her options.

She finally smiled and said, "Actually, I'm not that hungry. Would you like to take a stroll with me...." She laughed and added, "...dahling?"

Alex

Mak's suggestion visibly startled me, not because it didn't want to...I never expected such a wonderful opportunity. I quickly recovered and pressing her beautiful hand to my lips said "A walk with you would make my heart sing, my feet will not touch the ground whilst you are with me."

Before the opportunity passed I put some money on the table, never letting go of her hand stood up. I watched her press the flower to her nose, taking a deep breath just after standing up, then hand-in-hand we walked out of the restaurant.

The night was beautiful, the perfect tempurature...or maybe it was that while we walked I was totally focused upon beautiful Mak. We wandered, sometimes she led, sometimes I did. We started out, mostly in silence, not wanting to break the magic of the moment. I could tell that she was enjoying the walk as much as I was and gently squeezed her hand...she squeezed it back playfully. Suddenly we found ourselves in a little copse of trees in a nearby park. We turned toward each other and as naturally as to magnets clicking together, we were in each others arms. I looked deeply into her eyes and as they slowly closed, we moved together until our lips were locked in a wonderful kiss. The feelings shared in that kiss took my breath away and made my legs weak. I pulled her very close as her arms did the same. The world dissapeared.

After some time...I found we had sunk to the ground and were sitting on the ground with our legs intertwined so we could continue to face each other. I have no distinct recollection of moving toward the ground, though I do remember doing it...I was so into the feeling of Mak's lips and tongue, the warmth of her breath, the tease of her hair and the hunger of her hands, that moving toward the ground was not worth remembering.

Eventually, we parted, only slightly. Mak pressed into me, overbalancing me, which resulted in my crashing over, pulling her with me. We were suddenly overcome with laughter at the craziness of the movement. Then again Mak settled against my chest and I held her very close. My mind was busy remembering everything about this moment. I hoped that it would be repeated many times, and knew that this could also be a once in a lifetime event...I never wanted it to end...so I just kept holding her close, caressing her, and gently kissing her.

It happened so fast. One moment they were walking and the next they couldn't keep their hands off of each other. Mak just felt so safe in his arms and old memories came flooding back.

She wanted to keep kissing him and she wanted his hands all over her, but she pulled away and said, "How do you get to me like this? How do you always get to me? Even when we were a couple, you always had this way of making me act like a completely different person. When I'm around you, it takes all of my willpower not to jump you right then and there. I just don't understand how you do it." She sat up looking down at him, reading his face.

Alex

I slid my hands along her sides just up under her shirt, feeling her sensuous and strong muscles. My face was completely open, my eyes locked onto hers....

"How do you get to me like this? How do you always get to me? Even when we were a couple, you always had this way of making me act like a completely different person. When I'm around you, it takes all of my willpower not to jump you right then and there. I just don't understand how you do it."

I saw the playfullness and seriousness in her face. I didn't mask anything from her, I wanted her to see for herself the way she affects me as well...

"Dearest, why do you say it like I'm doing something to you...you do the same to me. I haven't seen you for what, a year, and then yesterday I see you running and playing that game and BANG...I was right back, wanting you. For me, you are glorious, you always have been. Just seeing you, even across the field, like today, even knowing you have another boyfriend, you light up my life. YOU are full of life, full of joy, atleast when you don't suppress it. I see the playfullness (I raise my hips up so that you are overbalanced and fall forward...I catch you and hold you so you are still on top, and we are almost nose to nose) in you. You bring out the same in me. I had to mature though. Before I was a twit, I was living in fear. You were just being yourself, enjoying the fun in every situation, and I was threatened by the way you interacted with the other guys. Now I've realized, that is who you are, or atleast who you were...that you just loved life and liked to have other joyfull people around you."

I hugged Mak very close, kissed the tip of her nose, then each eye. Just before I kissed her lips said "I would really really like to be one of those joyfull people around you again...<kiss>"

After his long confession, she was in awe as usual. She kissed him softly, running her hand down his side. She lifted his shirt a little so that she could touch the skin on his side.

"You can be one of those people, Alex, but I've changed a lot in a year. Being that over joyous, got me into a lot of trouble. I mean, people at our school thought I was a sex- crazed bimbo. They thought that we were having sex all the time and in reality, you were a bit of a prude. But you made me realize something. After we broke up, I realized the reputation I was getting so I left. I wanted to start over and I did..... with Drew. I'll be honest, I'm torn between you and Drew. I love him.... or atleast I think I do. Sometimes I don't know. Like right now. This feels so right."

She laid down with her head on his chest, pulling his arm around her.

Alex

We laid like that for a while. I was not there to try and dispute her perception of reputation or anything, after all this is a very difficult and critical (by others) time of life. However....

I said very quietly, so as to not disturb the incredible feeling of peace as we lay together "Dearest Mak, perhaps we can find some middle ground, where you don't feel the need to hide the glorious joyful and yes wild woman you are, nor lose the more thoughtful and introspective person you've been trying to become. I think it's possible, since I've moved from being as you so delicately put it, a prude, to a more accepting and joyous person. As to Drew, it seems your friendship with him is helping you to develop into the woman you want to be. To try and stop that or interfere would be the greatest of follies. I'm just so very very glad to have you back in my life."

My hands continue to caress your back and ass as you lay upon me. My hands slide from fabric to skin to fabric as my hands slowly move up and down. Loving the feel of your silky skin I slide my hands up under your shirt instead of over it, gripping your shoulders in a massaging way, then working my way down your back. My large hands caress and massage all the way to the top of your sexy skirt, then move down over your luscious ass, pressing you against me. "Ohhh Mak, you feel so unbelievably good..."
