(Natural News) The latest census numbers are in and one thing is for certain: Americans have had enough of urban liberalism. Almost every area of the country where people are fleeing in record numbers, according to the data, has been under Democratic Party rule for many decades. Meanwhile, the places seeing the most growth are, in many cases, enclaves of conservatism with low crime and booming economies.

The three cities with the largest numbers of people leaving, reports the U.S. Census Bureau, include Chicago, Detroit, and Baltimore — all cities with high rates of poverty and crime, and increasingly fewer economic opportunities. The Cook County region of Chicago tops the census list as having the greatest population losses for the most recent years calculated, showing a net domestic migration away from the city of 66,244 people between July 1, 2015, and July 1, 2016.

Even though it continues to see an influx of immigrants from foreign countries, Cook County is losing its native population by the tens of thousands every year. And Cook County just so happens to include the bulk of the city of Chicago proper, which in 2016 saw a murder rate of 762 people. As far as population losses, Wayne County, Michigan came in second with a net loss of 17,346 people between 2015 and 2016, while the city of Baltimore, Maryland came in third with a net loss of 11,008 people.

The Cato Institute (Libertarian), along with the Heritage Foundation (Conservative) have both long studied the problem. And it's a problem of welfare benefits far exceeding wages that would be earned from an entry level job. And those are, generally speaking, the only jobs these people are capable of qualifying for. They are uneducated and unskilled so why expend the time and energy looking for a job that pays less than the welfare benefits they would receive for not working? Using the old adage of "idle hands are the devil's workshop" many supplement these benefits by turning to crime.

especially long-term dependents—
welfare pays more than the type of entry-
level job that a typical welfare recipient can
expect to find. As long as this is true, many
recipients are likely to choose welfare over
work.

This was true when Cato conducted its
1995 study, and it remains substantially true
today. This is unfortunate for taxpayers who
must foot the bill for such programs, but
even more so for the recipients themselves.
By making a rational short-term choice,
recipients who forgo work for welfare may trap
themselves and their families in long-term
dependence.

Work vs Welfare

Quite literally many of these people have enslaved themselves to a system that keeps them in a state of perpetual poverty. They are making perfectly rational decisions based on the income/benefits received when looking at the short term work vs welfare trade offs.

And these benefits come at the expense of those that are working, the taxpayer. Is it any wonder that these workers are fleeing those jurisdictions that force them to support the perpetually unemployed?

The observation of Alexis de Tocqueville seems to be coming home to roost. "The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money." That observation is as true on the local level as it is on the national level. After all, the recipients of that largess are voters too. Why not vote yourself a 'raise?' Those that run for office promising more 'benefits' are counting on that predictable response.

The concept has been taking place for over 50 years, originally called ‘white flight’. All the money and work ethic left the Democrat shitholes left behind long ago. The fences have been built, now called ‘gated communities ‘, but weren’t built contain the undesirables, but to keep them out of the new suburban areas where jobs, schools, and safety seemed achievable once again. Bussing and affirmative action plans, rather than bringing up the cities, have been the government’s attempts to bring these enclaves back down to federal standards. People have now been leaving entire regions, depleting and departing the liberal north for better options in the south and southwest ie Texas, North and South Carolina etc), With right to work laws keeping unions at bay and lower taxes keeping government less intrusive. But liberals, like cancer, are a ‘progressive’ illness.
