Rise of the Phoenix

Koda was happy John was confident and in his element as Koda was thinking somewhere along the lines of 'WHAT THE FUCK'! Koda didn't think she herself was that fast and it made her wondered what else people saw in her as a soldier. That was quickly replaced as John and the John look alike decided they wanted to start this dance.

It seemed the Wanna-Be-Koda was happy to watch John and clone fight. As the fight went on and it proved that John was holding his own it seemed the bitch was getting angrier and angrier. Koda was perplexed and she was prepared when the girl came at her out of her nowhere. Koda easily parried her thrust and came up with a punch to the face. Which connected. It seemed the girl thought this was going to be over easy. Koda easily read the look on her face. "It will be over fast. You'll be dead soon."

She didn't like that and pushed Koda backwards. The two began their own dance of blocks, hits, connecting, and missing. It was hard and grueling, but Koda refused to lose. She wouldn't let John down. She will defeat this bitch if its the last thing she did.

John Collins

The fight was tough, John had no time to look around or think, he knew that Koda could hold her own, he actually depended on her to do just that. He drew first blood with a determined push, but noticed that Willoghy had not even tried yet, he had to guard for that moment as that would be his time. Turned out that not only had Willoghy become fast, he had actually learned some new tricks, a double feint, fist to the mouth and John barely moved away far enough for the blade not to gut him, it did give him an opening and he slashed Willoghy's left shoulder open, severing tendons. It was not the weapon arm, but with him unable to use it, the balance was all off and the power game swung into John's favor.

Then Willoghy exploded, that power John knew he had kept hidden burst out into the open and he came at John like a bison, kind of unstopable. But the attack lact subtlety and with a deft flick Willoghy's knife dropped from his severed fingers. John did not count on the kick though, a forward thrust kick that sent John flying into the opposite wall, the impact jarred him and the first two punches that hit had him reeling, he blocked the next and took a knee to the gut, it winded him and when Willoghy tried it again, John blocked the knee and slid the knife through the tendons in the back. He shoved Willoghy away and without the support of his knee he went down, John coughed and caught his breath. To his credit Willoghy tried his best to regain his footing, but John met this effort with a kick to the face and then he drove the knife into Willoghy's skull, he grinned a bloody grin and spat some of the blood out.

"And stay down."

Both girls were fast. But Foster had military training on her side. Koda was doing a lot of defensive moves. Koda was slowly learning Foster. She had a style her own and it included a lot of feints and punch with the other. Koda was down on her knees sucking in air as Foster slowly walked towards her with that fucked up smile on her face.

Foster pulled her leg back to kick and just as Koda thought Foster didn't kick out, she kept her legs out of range, and instead tried to drive a punch down into Koda's sternum. Koda rolled to her side and when she felt Foster's punch hit the ground she rolled back slamming her elbow into Foster's face.

Koda rolled this time and stood up just as Foster did. A glance to their left and Koda saw John was down. Koda didn't have time to think of that as she felt more than saw Foster coming at her. Koda spun out of the way, but was caught in the side but her punch. "Mother fucker!" Koda didn't know where her or Foster's weapons were. Both girls lost them sometime during the fight earlier.

Foster picked that time to toss Koda over her shoulder and Koda went flying to the other side of the room landing into plexi glass and falling onto her side. Koda saw her weapons. She picked up her blade and threw it at Foster. While Foster was busy trying to catch the blade Koda smiled as she brought her pistol. "Dodge this bitch." Koda fired round after round not straight, but random inches from eachother. The first 2 Foster dodge. Than one lodged in her shoulder, thigh, breast, leg - Foster was down on the ground.

Koda walked towards her. Foster opened her mouth to say something. "Fuck you," Koda said before a sound could come from that bitch's lips. She pulled the trigger twice more splattering brains.

John Collins

He slowly got to his feet, his arm folded around his midriff where the bastard had almost gutted him, somehow the fucker had enough strength to get that knife through his kevlar. He smiled at Koda,

"You just took down a super-soldier, come on you have reason to be proud of yourself."

He picked up the bag with the minigun which had slipped off during the scuffle and pulled Koda in for a one arm hug.

"I have a feeling that we will find the ones we are looking for in the Command Centre, I doubt that they will be anywhere else."

He led the way, as they approached the doors they slid open, John frowned, they had converted most of the space into test tanks, the original layout was cannibalized and among what John saw as the destruction of order stood Cody and the huge Contam which John knew had to know him.

"Ah you bring Koda to me, so good. Very good..."

The Contam spoke,

"Cody, that is not Bruce. It's John."

Cody seemed to have gone even paler and he fidgeted nervously,

"Oh my that is not good, not good at all. Kill will you?"

John arched an eyebrow as the Contam unfolded his arms and came walking towards them, drawing a machete from the small of his back. When the Contam got close enough, he drew his pistol and fired two rounds, the first got deflected with the machete, but the second blew a hole right through the Contam's head. John trained his pistol on Cody,

"You are a sick fuck for doing that to my father, but I am sure that Koda has an even bigger score to settle with you."

He holstered his pistol, giving Koda free reign to do as she pleased.

Everything happened quickly. Or maybe she was stuck on Cody and the horror she had faced. It was maybe only an hour or two in his presence, but Cody was one crazy, scary mother fucker. He was her nightmare and she barely heard the gun go off. She did however recognize that the Contam did as Cody commanded. Interesting. Was this contam bullshit his fault?

Koda stepped from beside John and Cody seemed to get a weird look on his face. Did he think she was going to be with him? She pulled out her knife and his look changed. It held fear and a little bit of lust. Gross. Koda walked forward and Cody didn't even try to defend himself. He was useless. "Is this all your doing?" He shook his head, but she wasn't sure he understood her. "Did you make the contaminated ones?"

"Oh. Yes, but see some couldn't take it. They were supposed to be super soldiers. It seemed the deader the mind the more they would just try to fuck." He sniffed. "All the female workers were dead. But ... the freshly dead... well ... they were the key. The key to everything." He kept talking as if his life wasn't in the line. Was he crazy? Okay, stupid question.

"What's the cure," Koda interrupted him.

Cody stopped talking and blinked. "Cure? There's no cure for brilliance. World domination. The super elite." He kept talking and seemed to get angrier and angrier more agitated. Koda sighed and slide her knife into his stomach. That seemed to stop him. He blinked quickly. "You'll make me a super soldier?" His voice was tiny.

"No." He seemed to crumble and Koda watched the life leave his eyes.

John Collins

"So there is no cure."

He stepped up to Koda and then started to check the consoles, luckily the Main Logistics was still operational. He used one hand to type in his pass code, it accepted it, ran a brief scan and started to run a list of names. Deceased. John watched with mounting horror it seemed like he was the highest ranking officer on database. This was just all wrong. He typed in the date of when the attack happened and after a long scan the terminal spat out the information. The attack had came from a base in Iraq, there was just too many for the home defense to deal with and after the first strikes, more missiles was launched. John could feel blood dripping from his arm, yeah yeah hold on a second.

"Hey Koda, come read this."

He moved a bit so that she could read what the screen said.

Koda shook her head at John's statement. It didn't need her answer, but she found herself on auto pilot. Staring at Cody. Making sure he truly was dead. When she laid down tonight she did not want any nightmares of his face staring at her. She wanted his eyes open, devoid of life, confirming he will never come after her again.

Koda heard John, but she didn't move for a moment. She didn't want to turn around and then when she looked back at Cody he was gone. That would be the freakiest shit and she wasn't sure if she could take that. Finally she moved over to where John was and stared down at the console. She kept glancing back to Cody making sure his dead body stayed down. After a moment the information got more bizarre and she was taking less glances at Cody.

"What am I ... reading?"

John Collins

"Reports, the files got backed up and you can now see who was responsible for all of this crap."

He typed in a command and a map came up, pinpointing a position in Iraq,

"The attack came from that base, rather big place from the stats from the intel reports."

He gave a grim smile.

"We also still have some nuclear capabilities, I feel like sticking a missile up their ass and wipe them out, whomever they may be."

He looked at her and then at the two dead bodies,

"Ever wondered how pay back would feel like?"

Koda smiled. So Cody and this base was just a side project. It was these fuckers here who had ruined the world. "Are they still alive? Running?" Koda felt that might have been a stupid question. Of course they were still alive... "Wait, what if THEY have a cure? We could save the ones that are infected."

Koda turned and looked at Cody. She looked at the Contam before lastly looking at John. "You're call. Either we end this now and blast the fuck out of them or we go and see about a cure. I won't fault you for either decision."

"Well then let's see...yeah this is the silo site."

He placed the bag on the ground, placed the auto fire rig into a smaller bag and strapped it to his side, then he pulled out the mini gun and slotted the ammo drum onto it, it was quite hefty, but with the extra drum he was sure to get them out alive and everything else in tatters. When he was done, he slipped off the kevlar and looked at the knife wound, it was bad, but not deadly.

"Maybe I should do some running repairs first, don't want to run out of blood on you."

Koda nodded. Blowing their asses to kingdom come sounded good to her too. She followed John and watched him work. Koda nodded. "I'm sure they're not many contams left, but in case I'll take up post while you patch yourself up just in case. If you need anything just holler."

Koda pulled out a gun and took a few steps out into the opening and did a quick 360 look around. She didn't want to get jumped and wanted to be on the look out. She found a small computer in the wall and was pushing buttons reading the information the thing held. It didn't even need a password. Which was ... odd? Shouldn't everything need a password? Or maybe they figured you wouldn't be here without clearance, but that was slightly arrogant right?

Koda thought she heard a noise and turned sharply with gun raised. Nothing. She waited a few heartbeats before returning to the computer. She wasn't sure, but this might be where you could launch missiles and if she wasn't mistaken some had already been launched before. What?!

John Collins

He nodded and moved to a First Aid kit which seemed still intact, he pulled off his shirt, sprayed disinfectant on the wound, grunting slightly at the sting, then he wrapped a bandage around himself, covering up the wound.

When he was done he placed the materials back into the kit, more out of habit than necissity. He slipped his shirt and body armor, picked up the mini gun, slipping the remaining ammo onto his back and moved over to where Koda was,

"Where are you poking around?"

He read the information and nodded,

"They tried to counter attack, but as you can see, all the missiles hit, but they tried too little too late. Lineback was a stunning fuck up"

Koda kept hearing things and stopping to double check that her hand John were in the clear. She didn't see anyone and was sure that her 'hearing' was due to being on hyper alert. She be damned if anything snuck up on them. She was sure to shoot first and ask questions later. With that thought Koda glanced at John and did a mental smile seeing his sexy body. She didn't like he was hurt. It was as soon as she said pain was when she realized every hurt she had received through her own battle. She knew she was bruised back and she gasped trying to hold the hurt back.

John approached and Koda quickly stuffed the pain to the side. "Some weird military mumbo jumbo shit. I understand about half of what I'm reading." Koda moved to the side so John could get a look. She did another quick look around and went back to looking at the screen. "Can you make heads or tails of this?"

Koda watched John go through the screen and confirm her thought. Some of the missiles have been launched before. She wasn't sure what he meant about the lineback so she didn't say anything. "Do we have enough to send those fucker to kingdom come?" She hoped so so they could end this. She wanted those bastards dead for the what they did to the world.

John Collins

"These missiles are for defense purposes, they will never reach that far. I wrote down the coordenates, come on, we are going to give them a little something-something."

He moved to the door it slid open to reveal an empty hallway, he pulled his one pistol, made sure it was ready and moved along the corridor to the back. Strangely enough they met no Contam, he moved towards the officer parking lot. Scanning through the vehichles he picked one of the sturdier Jeep based models, checked that the vehicle had fuel and oil. He broke the window, opened the door and smiled at the fact that the alarm was not engaged. Who would try to steal a vehichle from an army base? Stupid way of thinking to be honest.

"Let's go find that Silo and send over a surprise package."

Koda just nodded her head. She knew nothing about coordinates, or any of this military stuff. She was just glad John knew what he was doing. She wanted to know what this little something something was, but he was already moving stealthily so she decided her question could wait. She followed him down the hall way her own pistol and a small knife clutched in her hands. She was glad their were no contams to encounter. She was done with them for 3 lifetimes.

She got into the passenger side of the jeep. "What is this surprise you keep talking about? I thought you said the missiles wouldn't work?"

Koda had her head on a swivel as she looked around them making sure nothing crept on them. She had just gotten done checking the back seat which was clear and free of anything that could kill them.

John Collins

"The thing is that there had been no retaliation action from our side for oh...years."

He started the Jeep and drove off,

"So just imagine those stupid fuckers sitting over there, feet up, cocktails and beer served hourly."

He gripped the wheel tighter,

"Having a laugh and making plans on how to divide our country after the Contams died of hinger. Then a warning beeping and while they scramble to get to safety their world ends in a bright light and the next thing they see is a bad motherfucker with a pitchfork welcoming them home."

He smiled at Koda,

"I know where we can launch an attack at the guys who did this."

"Uh huh."

Koda said as they drove along and John seemed to go on some little rant. She agreed with him wholeheartedly, but didn't want to distract him as they drove top speed over hills. Was it her or did Jeeps seem made to feel every bounce and rock. She had never bounced this much in her life and if they weren't on a mission to fuck shit up she would have had fun in the thing.

"I get it baby. Kill the fuckers. I'm with you on that, but you said the missiles wouldn't work. What did you have in mind?"

John Collins

He was a bit surprised by her question,

"You honestly never heard od Linebacker? Strange because the Goverment spent Billions on the project."

He accelarated through a small stream, sending water in all directions,

"Project Linebacker was a Home Defense project, the missiles that you saw was interception missiles, these missiles were created to stop any other missiles to reach home soil, but the problem was that they had to launch missiles against every threat from every base. This attack was the first real test for Linebacker..."

He grimaced,

"And as you can see it failed. Now this silo we're heading for is a Nuclear Missile Launching platform, I'm going to send over everything I can a blast those shitheads straight to hell on a ring of fire."

Koda shook her head as he explained. "Not everyone kept up on military news like you dear." Koda smiled sweetly as she heard his passion in his voice for this kind of stuff that went over her head. All she knew was that John had a plan and it should work. That worked for her.

"Now that's a plan I can get behind."

Koda was and wasn't surprised that they hadn't came in contact with any contams. She thought she saw some in the distance, but couldn't be certain. The drive was relaxing after the days they had and she found herself even liking the bumps and slight air lifts of the jeep. Almost too soon they were stopping and Koda was back in kill mode. She got out with her gun scanning the area. It looked clear.

John Collins

Luckily his clearance code still got them inside, only getting deeper was a bit more tricky, but pliers and wire cutters bypassed the Security Doors allowing them into the bowels, they encountered Contams, but all dead from hunger as there was nothing left to eat. The console of the launch platform, so he took her into the maintenance area, from there he could code the misiles from a still-working Task Manager, basically a laptop with the program installed to launch the missiles manually.

"Well here goes nothing."

He pushed a button and a loud warning claxon started to wail,

"That is the blast doors closing and the bay doors opening."

He handed her a key to insert into a slot,

"We must do it together."

He waited then inserted his key,

"Three, two. One"

They turned the keys and a shrill whistle started,

"And that would be the missile's engines warming up, all of them."

Koda swept the room and was shocked it was empty and better yet this easy to get inside. It was easy. A little too easy. Than again this wasn't the movies. Sometimes things just went your way. She had at first jumped at seeing the contams, but further inspection they were dead and that was interesting. So the contams did die naturally. Good information.

Koda was staring at one when John's voice interrupted her thoughts. She turned to him and nodded ready for anything. The sirens she hadn't been prepared for and she found herself on high alert waiting for anything to come at them. Nothing. Okay, that wasn't too bad. She was handed a key and smiled at it knowing from movies and video games what to do.

Just as she had thought before. This was easy. John stepped up, typed some mumbo jumbo computer/military speech into a big ass laptop thingy and now they were just waiting for some boot up before they killed some meanies who thought to play god. Sounded fun and simple to her.

"What do we do when this is done? Do we go back home and try to ... start a family or something?" Koda didn't look at John as she asked her question. She was looking at the computer screen that was stating they were only at 15% ready.

John Collins

A loud whine started up,

"That is the..."

Her words finally sank in and he looked at her,

"Wait did I hear right? You want to start a family? With me?"

He was shocked to say the least, but not shocked in a bad way, more like he almost couldn't believe she would want to do that with him.

"If I understood that right then yes, I think that would be a good start."

He knew he had a silly smile on his face,

"Oh and that was the motors warming up."

Koda turned to John hearing his question. She slowly nodded her head concern growing in her belly at the look on his face. Had she judge their relationship so poorly. She could read his expression easily and went that stillness slowly turned into a big smile she began to smile as well. Koda wanted to jump in his arms, but she refrained herself. They still had a mission to do.

"Good. Good. Cuz I missed my period a week ago." Koda spoke casually as she waited for the loud noises to stop. She turned to catch sight of him wondering if he caught what she meant. She would leave if he didn't want kids and raise their child on her own, but he just said he did. But was he ready for them so soon.

John Collins

He arched an eyebrow,

"You wait to tell me this while we are in a bunker with all the craziest blood lusting monsters outside with enough firepower to take out a whole country?"

He chuckled,

"I'm going to be a father, imagine that."

He pulled her into a bear hug and kissed her forehead gently, there was a slight whine that grew in intensity, on the screen the status went from 45% to 99% and a password screen came on. Reluctantly John broke away from Koda and pulled a sealed envelope from one of his pockets, he opened it and typed in the code. A slight cough followed after he tapped the Enter key and a loud rumbling followed soon afterwards. He placed one arm around Koda and listened,

"That would be the missiles lifting off."

"Well, it never seemed like the right time and we never talked about it." Koda sniffed disdainfully. "Plus I think I may have been in denial about it. And we were so gung ho to stop the invasion. It just ..." Koda shrugged. "Never seemed like the right time." She knew she said that already, but it was true.

Koda looked around as he kissed her head. John pulled away and she felt empty. She wanted him back. She looked at the envelope. How long did he have that? As he typed she did another quick stock of their situation. All good. All quiet. She moved slightly closer to John as he put his arm around her. She looked up at him waiting. For what she wasn't sure. She was glad he knew as he told her what was happening.

"So it's over? We win?"
