RIP Sinead O'Connor

I honestly didn't really follow her at all.
I knew she was a singer.

May God lay his healing hands upon the hearts and minds of her family and friends.
May they rejoice, laugh and cry, at the lifetime of incredible memories they shared with their loved one, who now resides in the kingdom of heaven.
I ask of this in his name. Amen.

Heartbreaking. Not completely surprising, with all she'd been through, but no less a loss for that.

Best known to many for her cover of a Prince song, but even at 15 she was a spectacular songwriter in her own right.

Why should I blame her that she filled my days
With misery, or that she would of late
Have taught to ignorant men most violent ways,
Or hurled the little streets upon the great,
Had they but courage equal to desire?
What could have made her peaceful with a mind
That nobleness made simple as a fire,
With beauty like a tightened bow, a kind
That is not natural in an age like this,
Being high and solitary and most stern?
Why, what could she have done, being what she is?

Was there another Troy for her to burn?
- W.B. Yeats, "No Second Troy", referenced by SOC's "Troy".

Everyone kind of remembers her for the wrong song; she did amazing stuff. Sad to hear the news.

Such a talent, such a voice, so many emotions evoked. As a crusty old bastard, I try to put on a facade of "nothing affects me". But her voice could bring me to tears.

Nothing compares to you

Comshaw
