Arguably, the late Scott Wilson was even better as a truly chilling psychopath.

"Did you see them guys? Jesus, they could have robbed us." "What of?"

That book was required reading in a college psychology class I took. The teacher said that Perry Smith (Blake's character) was not a sociopath/psychopath at all, but had other mental problems dealing with passive/aggressiveness. Dick Hickock (Wilson's character) was a true sociopath, though. So Blake's portrayal was pretty accurate.

I haven't seen the TV show, but I saw a clip from it when Larry King interviewed him after his release from jail and the murder trial.

If you say so, I'm a law & order freak (the old one that's come back), and the 2000 Dragnet with Ed O'Neill. Too bad it didn't last longer. I have watched the older ones and like them as well.
The original Law and Order is immortal, that and SVU are fantastic

Like Criminal Intent a lot as well. Then there is CSI, CSI NY, and my favorite of the CSIs, CSI Miami.

D'Onofrio is great, really quirky. He played a great Kingpin in the Netflix Daredevil series.

Never got into the CSI. I liked Criminal Minds the first couple of seasons, but they became so damn disturbing I gave up on them and I'm a horror fan.

I was 13 or 14 and living with my adoptive family as a foster then, so they didn't let me watch Criminal Minds. It was too dark for a girl that lived on the streets before they took me in. ;) LOL

The only problem with SVU was that it was quite downbeat, almost unrelentingly so at times. Even the characters admitted getting depressed and the bad impact their work was having on their lives.

All of those are fabulous. But for me, the best cop show ever was Hill Street Blues.

You might recognize Joe Spano (a lot younger here of course) from NCIS.

Comshaw

Because of the crimes the show should have been downbeat, if you want rape and abuse to be made into a joke, you can always come to lit, and I'm not referring to just the stories with that remark.

I believe this was the same reason Criminal Minds didn't contain a lot of 'ha-ha' because of the subject material. But they took the gruesome to Se7en level and beyond.

I streamed hill street a few months back. Loved it.
Have you run into the episode where they put the remote-controlled alligator in the sewer while Howard is down there with his team looking for rumored alligators? Or the infamous "disgruntled tuna" episode? And Nick "Dog breath" Belker was always entertaining. The thing I liked about it's like life, a mix of deadly serious with humorous interludes stuck in between.
