RIP John Ritter

I'm utterly shocked by this news. I feel so sad for his little girl. I heard that yesterday was her fifth birthday. The day her father died. :(

Skin Deep was one of his better movies. I also enjoyed his voice acting in Fish Police. Vaguely remember Hooperman. His latest show, 8 Simple Rules...is a good one. Sad that it cannot continue now.

Growing up in the 70's, John was the first guy I had a crush on. Not from his looks, but he made me laugh.. and laughter did not happen that much in my house. Thank you for the laughter John..you will be missed.

A shining star in comedy is now gone...

I loved him in Real Men.

It.

His one episode of Buffy.

Just that quick...SNAP...and he's gone. I'm gonna go watch Real Men now.

This is so hard to believe and absorb. My sympathies go out to his wife, children, family. I know I'm going to date myself, but I remember his first appearances on "The Waltons". I thought he was cute then, but had no idea of his comedic talent. I was a huge fan of "Three's Company" (I think everyone was in the '70s), and he was one of the few comedians that could make me laugh so hard for so long. Thank the gods his talent will be immortalized on film and within his fan's hearts.

Rest in peace, John Ritter. You brought joy and happiness to more people than you could ever hope to know.

I'm just as stunned as everyone else.

I grew up watching Three's Company and thinking how cool it was to have a man for a roommate, just a buddy who looked out for you.

I hated that his career really tapered off for several years, with the exception of the Problem Child movies you didn't really hear or see much from him. Then his new series started and he's the main reason why I started watching it.. it was really a pretty good show to.

Thoughts to his family and friends. :rose:

After gaining fame in the sitcom "Three's Company," actor John Ritter returned to the spotlight with the ABC series “8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter.” Ritter, here with son Jason, accepts the best comedy award at the 2003 Family Television Awards show in August. The star, 54, died September 11, 2003, of a heart problem after falling ill on the set of his latest series.

oh my god......

This is the first I've seen of this......and I am saddened.

He and I guest starred on a sitcom a few years back - and he was a very nice, warm, and extremely funny man. I think his talents ran further than what we all know him from (his excellent performance in "Sling Blade," for example).

We'll miss you, John.

If you should like to see something that he enjoyed making see "Stay Tuned".

In this movie Tex Avery did the animation bit, and Mr. Ritter was a huge fan of Mr. Avery's work.

Stay Tuned (1992)

[As a cartoon mouse, Roy is trapped in a donut while the Robocat is shooting at him.] Roy Knable: My doctor was right, donuts will be the death of me!

[As cartoon mice.] Roy Knable: Boy, this is strange! Helen Knable: Strange? I'm a cartoon mouse with high-heel sneakers. The word "strange" is somewhat lacking.

[As cartoon mice, Helen threatens to leave Roy.] Roy Knable: Where are you going to go, to your cartoon mother's house?

:rose: Rest in Peace:rose:

Well, now the Heavens have another shining star to shine down on us....
Blessed Be, John.....you will be missed....:rose:

Being that I 'm in England, this didn't make the news over here (he's not really known per se), this is the first I'm reading of it.

Very sad.

And in the two pages of tributes here, I'm surprised to see no one has mentioned his many years of energetic campaigning in support of environmental issues.

Glad to know I wasn't the only one with a crush:)

This has saddened me more than I could have expected. I'd like to see tv do a better tribute to him than what I've seen so far, although the comments by Henry Winkler where particularly touching.

Saw "Holy Joe" on cable, a day or two before he died...
