So sad to hear of his passing. He was such a great comedian and actor. I enjoyed his brilliance since Young Frankenstein. He'll be missed. :rose:

That's to bad, he was a talented actor. I knew he'd retired from acting but I hadn't known he was suffering from Alzheimer's decease.

I have Willy Wonka out to watch tonight.

Good day, Sir and thank you for the memories...

I loved him in blazing saddles and Willy Wonka... But his performance in Young Frankenstein will forever be my favorite. An amazing actor / writer and will forever be missed.

I'm trying to think of a movie he was in that I didn't like! I can't because I liked everything I ever saw him in. Condolences to his family and friends.

An often overlooked GW movie was Silver Streak with Richard Pryor. 88% on RT. I'm old enough to actually have watched it in the theatre!

One of my faves was Hear no evil, see no evil with the late, great Richard Pryor. Totally hilarious concept of one being deaf and the other blind. :D

No one could have played Wonka better than Gene. I have seen quite a few of his other comedies, but Wonka I have seen many times. I will never watch the remake, as much as I love Depp, because Gene brought more to his character than eccentricities. He was a genius, a madman, a little cold, a little cruel, a little uncaring, a little unlikeable, but in the end I forgave him all his faults. It takes a great actor to pull you on an emotional ride where you are never sure where you will end up.

It was his turn to win the golden ticket and I hope he enjoys the ride.

Golden Ticket indeed. I had heard him say many times that he was really counting on an afterlife because he didn't get to spend enough time with Gilda In this one. I hope for his sake they're together tonight. :rose:

I think he would raise his cane, tip his hat and give a wry smile reading that :)

Damn you! That's NOT old! :D what the hell man! That was just...I don't know, couple years back?? right???? ( I saw it too!)

Gene gave us so much. I am grateful for his life and his talent. He made the world a little better.

As soon as you mentioned Gilda, I had to laugh about Roseanne Roseannadanna. that and Baba Wawa and how she was so candidly animated. :D

Damn!! Again... I wish they had waited to do a remake of Willie Wonka. THAT was a slap in the face!

He's with Gilda now. SO, he's happy.

And Marty Feldman (God!! look at when he died and how old! '82 at 48 years..... and Peter Boyle...... )

Bonnie and Clyde!!
The Adventure of Sherlock Holmes' Smarter Brother

Humph... I thought he was in "Silent Movie"... oops.

What a wonderful, funny, thoughtful man he was. No doubt now in heaven making the Angels smile.

He is Dancing with Gilda in heaven. And laughing with Madelinne and Peter.

Fare thee well Gene.
