Movie Bad ass Gene Hackman has passed away at the age of 95.

But...he was also found dead alongside his wife who is only 63 and the family dog.

The article says no foul play is suspected.

What the actual fuck is going on here? Yeah, guys passes on, oh, look, here's his wife, hey, even the dog is dead...

Nothing to see here folks.

carbon monoxide possibly? Accidental death rather than foul play?

I heard that she recently had a liver transplant. My guess is complications.

But if the house has decent ventilation, which I am sure his house must be having, will the CO poisoning will still be potent??!

This loss hits as hard as the passing of another great, Robin Williams.

🥺💔

He was among my 4 absolute all-time favourite actors from my growing up years:

Gene Hackman

Chris Cooper

Jack Nicholson

Ed Harris

Breathtaking performance in The Firm, Runaway Jury, Crimson Tide...!

All it takes is a closed off room and and a leaky gas fireplace or the like.

Another option that would be considered not foul play: natural death for one, suicide and killing the dog for the other.

An accident killing all three seems unlikely.

And "doesn't appear to be foul play" could simply be "no obvious wounds or injuries that likely resulted in death."

Though natural death for all three together seems almost impossible.

Suicide and killing is certainly within the realm of likelihood, but it would be extremely sad indeed.

Who knows what they were going through quietly.

Suicide and killing would likely leave evidence of foul play. Natural death and suicide wouldn't.

I didn't mention a natural death for all three at all.

Yeah, that’s what I guessed, too. No matter how nice the home, all it takes is a minor slip-up to create the potential for a CO death.

I own a house with gas heating. After a bad hail storm a few years ago, we had to get the roof replaced. The guys that did it seemed to have done a great job; however, when our HVAC guys came through a few months later for routine maintenance, they found that on one of the heating units, an outflow hadn’t been reattached properly. If we’d gotten to the winter and run it, things could have gotten very bad. While we do have CO detectors installed, not everyone does, as most buildings only require smoke alarms, not CO.

Stay safe, folks.

A great actor, with great range. He made movies better by being in them. His performance as Little Bill in Unforgiven was one of my favorites.

Sad morning to wake up to this news. He was an incredible actor and always stood out in movies that he was in.

The Birdcage, The Unforgiven, Hoosiers, The French Connection, etc. Too many movies to name.

He wrote mystery books too that were pretty good.

One of his rare interviews. (You do have to skip the commercials.) I never knew much about his life. He strikes me as very articulate and forthcoming here.

Heard about this earlier today.

How cold or warm is it in Santa Fe (where Hackman and his wife died)?

If it was COÂą poisoning, it may have come from central heating. Local PD didn't mention foul play (yet), so M wondering if it's the furnace going out (gas keeps going, no pilot light) or if a vehicle was kept running indoors and someone forgot to shut off the engine.

Hackman's daughter said it may have been CO poisoning.

The dog almost certainly was foul-played, no? Dogs don’t suicide.

I'd imagine if it were carbon monoxide they would have said that in the article, but then again, maybe they're not allowed to right away.

I just think the knee jerk reaction is 'three dead' and "no foul play suspected" doesn't go together.

Even though it was a hokey movie, I liked him in Quick and the Dead with Sharon Stone and pre pedophile Decaprio.

Update from the Santa Fe PD that it's suspicious. Two doggos were alive (the third one was dead), there were pills near the wife, and it looks like both people suddenly fell.

Maybe a medication mix up?

Thank you for mentioning The Birdcage -- he was stellar with his comedy too!

One of my all-time favourite actors! 💔🥺

Probably wouldn't know until they'd had time to run toxicology tests. People who've just died from CO poisoning have a distinctive look, but it sounds like they'd been dead quite a while before they were found.

There's a lot of speculation being reported but I don't think we're going to get any definite answers for weeks or months.

He was fun in Heartbreakers. Sigourney Weaver and Jennifer Love Hewitt as a mother-and-son team of lonely hearts scammers, Hackman as the wealthy tobacco exec Weaver's trying to seduce.

The first I remember of him was as Luthor in the Christopher Reeve Superman movies.
