RIP Aretha Franklin...

I met her once, back in the 80s. Gracious, friendly and full of light. RIP to the Queen.
 
Oh my! She has left a legacy of music....R&B, Gospel...her piano playing never got much recognition but she was awesome there too.
 
She isn't dead. Just heard on the radio it was mis-reported. Or as the Americans say, fake news.

in a statement, her family said: "In one of the darkest moments of our lives, we are not able to find the appropriate words to express the pain in our heart.

"We have lost the matriarch and rock of our family. The love she had for her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins knew no bounds."

The family also confirmed her death was due to advanced pancreatic cancer of the neuroendocrine type.

There was a fake tweet in November last year saying she had died.

No, not sure. But I did hear it on the radio 5 minutes before I saw your post.
 
I had read a couple days ago that Aretha was in the hospital in critical condition with her family around her. I figured it was the end for her. She had been battling cancer since 2010. She was a force to be reckoned with. She is another who will be greatly missed.
 
She was amazing, another soul to sing in heaven.
So going to watch the Blues Brothers tonight......
Rip queen of soul music, you always be amazing
 
She was a truly gifted lady that shared her gift to the world and made it a much better place!!
