******** continue to scream about the income tax rebate checks. They just can’t stand the fact that people who didn’t pay income taxes don’t get an income tax rebate check. After all --- it’s the people who don’t pay income taxes who can be counted on to vote for Democrats.
You’re going to hear some of these ******** screaming “They may not pay income taxes, but they still pay payroll taxes. They pay Social Security and Medicare taxes, and they deserve a break.”
OK .. here’s your response. These aren’t so much “taxes” as they are premiums for defined benefits. They are premiums paid for the Social Security benefits that will accrue at a later date, and they are premiums for the Medicare benefits what that will be forthcoming years from now. Yes, these people are paying these “taxes,” but they are also guaranteed the benefits that flow from those taxes. It’s no different than paying an insurance premium. So, why should they be getting rebates on these insurance premiums? Are they going to forego the benefits later?
Basically what the ******** are telling you is this. They want accomplished and successful Americans to pay not only for the cost of government for the great unwashed, now they want them to pay they Social Security and Medicare taxes too! In other words, they want their constituents to get a completely free ride. Not just a free ride on income taxes, but a free ride on everything! All of it!
Imagine the future political campaigns: “Vote for Republicans and they’ll make you pay for your own Social Security and Medicare.”
That, my friends, is a guaranteed election winner.
