HEY, DAVID EDWARDS. TIME TO STEP UP AND BE A MAN!
And just who is David Edwards? He’s that ex-con from Kentucky that just won about $50 million in the Powerball lottery.
Edwards is making all sorts of noises about the wonderful things he’s going to do with the money. He’s going to buy a Rolls Royce! He’s going to buy his fiancée a Ferrari! That’s all well and good. Put that money into the economy, David, where it will lift a lot of boats!
But there’s something else that Edwards can do. It seems that our winner was convicted of an armed robbery in 1981. He got a dime to serve. He violated parole several times and didn’t finish his sentence until 1997.
Edwards calls this a “mistake.” Like --- “Ooops, I just robbed someone! My bad!”
Anyway … Wouldn’t it be nice if David Edwards would look up that guy he robbed – that person he terrorized – and pay a little restitution? The idea actually came to me today in an e-mail, and it’s a good one. About $500,000 ought to do the trick! Maybe there’s a way that Edwards could pay this money to his victim through a court in such a way as to avoid any income tax consequences for the victim!
Who knows --- maybe the victim is dead. Even so, he has family members who suffered the trauma of Edwards acts. Find them --- fork over some money!
