WHILE GEPHARD SLAMS THE REPUBLICAN TAX CUT ..

… he’s out there spending taxpayer money like its going out of style.

Let’s see --- it was just about two months ago that Richard Gephardt grabbed his pal Charles Rangel and hopped a jet for Brussels, Berlin, Moscow and London.

The New York Post snooped into the records for this trip …. Here are some highlights.

Gephardt’s entourage included his wife plus six Gephardt staffers and eight other congressmen (including Rangel). Four of the congressmen also took their wives plus they had three military escorts.

OK .. now for the tab:

Flights were on a Navy C-32. That’s the Navy version of a Boeing 757. This plane has 42 first-class seats and a stateroom (presumably occupied by Gephardt and his wife). Cost to taxpayers, $231,000.

They needed some on-board supplies for the flight … this included a chocolate mousse tower (what the hell???), filet mignon, chicken stuffed with mushrooms and suntan lotion. Cost to taxpayers, $4,788.76.

The cost of the hotel rooms and meals haven’t yet been filed with the House clerk. This would include stays at the Berlin Hilton, Moscow National, and the Grosvenor House in London.

Probable total cost to taxpayers? About $300,000.

Oh --- but the trip was oh so worth it, wasn’t it? Gephardt’s spokeweasel tells the Post that the trip was loaded with meetings with high-placed officials that will help him deal with issues in a “more informed manner.”

Gawd, what BS. It was a junket. Pure and simple --- a little joy ride in a luxury aircraft across the pond to strut his political stuff. As soon as he got back to U.S. territory Gephardt was delivering a speech slamming Bush’s foreign policy.

Look --- it’s not just Gephardt. Republicans do the same thing. Get on those planes, load them down with wives and goodies, and head overseas for a vacation.

Bottom line? Gephardt’s trip cost $300,000. Let’s say that it took about 40 American taxpaying couples to cover that bill. Gephardt is telling these couples that it was more important that he spend their money on first class airplane seats, chocolate mousse, filet mignon, luxury hotels and suntan lotion than it was to allow these people to keep that money – their money – money they earned – and spend it on their own needs.

When are Americans going to get a grip on these arrogant voids surrounded by sphincter muscles in Washington?

Todd, what kind of response are you looking for?

Oh the usual

"your a transexual Nazi Eskimo racist communist swine crossdresser"

It just works on so many levels

And do you think that by posting these articles you can change things? Or do you just want to discuss them? I'm just trying to figure your motives here.

Oh Todd....

Find a more interesting Democrat to pick on. Find something that everyone doesn't do. I know, Condit's gotten boring.... What about that Fla Republican with the stiff in his office? Someone told me about that, but I must've missed it. Was there anything to that?
