There's a Ricki Lake on right now about the fight of gay youths for their rights.

On it is a mother and daughter who have the website www.godhatesfags.com as their stand against gay people.

They're using the bible to condemn and judge, and yet, the bible says thou shalt not judge.. it says you will be judged how you judge...

gah.

People like that piss me off.

I'm sorry. I've discovered I'm painfully inarticulate on my feelings about gay rights. Something so close to my heart, and I just can't seem to speak about it well.

That site is despicable  I'm deeply offended at the way people can call themselves Christians and preach that kind of viscious hate.

But on a more pleasant note....your av is beautiful :)

I had to check it out out of morbid curiosity. It didn't work. I mean, I could GET there, but they must know I'm gay, cus I couldn't get anywhere on it. It must be blocked to gays.

lol.

And thank you!
:)

Hehe...I actually just looked at the first page...that was more than enough for me.

That doesnt matter. The fact that you stand up is enough even if you dont know what to say.

*sigh* This sort of thing makes me more sad than angry :( God doesn't 'hate fags', he loves them, just as he loves every other sinner on this planet. A site like that is only there to inflame more hatred against homosexuals, not to help bring more people to God... Personally, I have faith in God and Jesus, and have read the bible straight through on many ocassions. I fail to follow God's directions far too often, and am certainly not a good example of what a Christian should be! But these are my thoughts, for what it's worth...

I freely acknowledge that the bible considers homosexuality a sin (as with any sin of a sexual nature). Now let me make a list of some of the other sins mentioned in the New Testament:
fornication (NB. *all* extramarital fornication, not only homosexual), covetousnous, idolatory, drunkness (1 Corinthians 5:11)
debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults (2 Corinthians 12:20)
lying, stealing, corrupt communication, bitterness, wrath, anger, clamour, and evil speaking (Ephesians 4:25-29, 31)
women adorning themselves in with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array (1 Timothy 2:9)
false pride, doting about questions and strifes of words, envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, love of money, profane and vain babblings (1 Timothy 6:4-5,10, 20)
[people that are] lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded (2 Timothy 3:2-4)

Do these 'fag-hating' Christians avoid all of the sins above?? Of course not, as is written in Romans 3:23 '... all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God'. If God is going to hate homosexuals for being sinners, then he's going to hate everybody. But in his lifetime, Jesus was often criticised for his friendship with sinners (and tax collectors ;)), and he always explained that the sinners were the reason for his existence. He loved his imperfect friends.

These 'Christians' should consider the following story before spreading their hatred:
'And the scribes and the Pharisees bring [to Jesus] a woman taken in adultery, and having set her in the midst, they say to him, Teacher, this woman has been taken in the very act, committing adultery. Now in the law Moses has commanded us to stone such; thou therefore, what sayest thou? But this they said proving him, that they might have [something] to accuse him [of]. But Jesus, having stooped down, wrote with his finger on the ground. But when they continued asking him, he lifted himself up and said to them, let him that is without sin among you first cast the stone at her . And again stooping down he wrote on the ground. But they, having heard [that], went out one by one beginning from the elder ones until the last; and Jesus was left alone and the woman standing there.'

Luke 6 (the Sermon on the Mount), has some great things to say about how Christians should behave. The 'Christians' who write things like this webpage should consider what God says about *their* actions. For example...
27-28 But to you that hear I say, Love your enemies; do good to those that hate you; bless those that curse you; pray for those who use you despitefully.
31-35 And as ye wish that men should do to you, do *ye* also to them in like manner. And if ye love those that love you, what thank is it to you? for even sinners love those that love them. And if ye do good to those that do good to you, what thank is it to you? for even sinners do the same. And if ye lend to those from whom ye hope to receive, what thank is it to you? [for] even sinners lend to sinners that they may receive the like. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return, and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be sons of [the] Highest; for *he* is good to the unthankful and wicked.
36 Be ye therefore merciful, even as your Father also is merciful.
37 And judge not, and ye shall not be judged; condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned. Remit, and it shall be remitted to you.
41-42 But why lookest thou on the mote which is in the eye of thy brother, but perceivest not the beam which is in thine own eye? or how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, allow [me], I will cast out the mote that is in thine eye, thyself not seeing the beam that is in thine eye? Hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine eye, and then thou shalt see clear to cast out the mote which is in the eye of thy brother.

Romans 2:1
Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, every one who judgest, for in that in which thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.

...................

I have no idea if this made sense, I do know that I rambled too much and probably didn't actually say anything... sorry!!

I think perhaps the main point I have tried to make here is that anyone can take a bible verse out of context and twist it to support their own arguments ;)

Wow, I've just read through their whole site, and I feel ill. This church believes that AIDS is good, they picket *funerals*, and they truly believe that all homosexuals are paedophiles...

i just cant stand these religous fucks.
i tried to read some of the crap on their site and it makes me sick!
how dare they judge people, its views like theirs which cause harm to others and make young and confused people commit suicide because they believe they're sinners. when are people going to stop using religion as a scape goat.

Isn't it fun how people will do that? There are so many interpretations of that book...and people will take out parts...such as bits on homosexuality...and then base their entire argument around it. Arg! But you know...I wouldn't be surprised if those two women fit the bill for all of the other sins you mentioned. False accusers, lying, evil speaking, wrath....profane and vain babblings...

Oh no, but suicide is a sin as well. So unless you truly repented as you were falling from that bridge or as the poison was stopping your systems, you'd just be adding another sin. They treat it like a disease, a psychological disorder that can be fixed. Religion is fine and all, but what confuses and bothers me so much is when people use it for hate and not love and acceptance.

I've heard the woman from that website on Howard Stern. It's sick what she does, but it's even more sick what she teaches her kids...and to hear them repeat that crap is just scary.

Religion/Sexuality

I was raised to follow Christian ideals, used to attend Church etc. up until my late teens. I still believe in the Christian ideas/rules/morals on alot of things but am not active in going to Church etc. anymore.

My background aside, and even if you put religion aside in general, on a very basic human to human level (and this may sound even slightly child-like) it is not NICE or FAIR to call people names. It wasn't fun when any of us were little kids (or older for that matter) - it hurts or at least frustrates or annoys us.

In this particular case where religion has entered the picture it's also very assuming of these people to think that they have the authority on what God thinks simply because they have some sort of written evidence - "The Bible". I'm not downplaying what the Bible contains or what it represents and means to many people - just that I think they are using the Bible to promote their views. Simple as that.

That site is not a joke. It's also not owned or run by a mother and daughter. It's run by the Reverend Fred Phelps and The Westboro Baptist Church.

Members of the church are know to picket the funerals of gay people ( Matt Shepard), but also to single out and pick on people who aren't even gay because they're stupid.

OMG! I just read through a lot of that site, what a set of militant, ignorant assholes obsessed with feces and semen.

i can't think of any suitable names for them. i'm horrified by the deprivation and hatred they exude, so boldly.
i'd like to read some of their hate mail. if i were articulate enough and thought it'd make any difference id' send them hate mail.

I really don't have words for this site. I was raised and still am Roman Catholic and I am very involved in the teenagers youth group and I am amazed to see that they are telling all the teens all of this stuff. If i remember a few weeks ago at a meeting they said to use condoms is a sin now I know they meant that in a absence only kind of way but I don't think the kids understood that to well. Times are changing so fast and our youth needs to be taught acceptance of all people like I was told as a child. Don't you remember you mother ever telling you to be nice to the chubby kid? Or the learning disabled kid? Isn’t this the same type of thing?
