Although Scott was never charged with any crime and was never even interviewed by federal agents in their probe of HCA, the fact that he was the CEO at the time is a major stain. He managed to narrowly win gubernatorial and Senate elections but the issue has dogged him and will continue to do so. The GOP doesn’t need him as a major face of the party.

I think Senator Thune would be a good choice. He seems to be respected by a majority of his colleagues and been mentored by McConnell who did a masterful job of getting difficult legislation and confirmations over the finish line. There are other good candidates in the mix. Look forward to watching it play out. It’s awesome that we’re fortunate enough to be having this discussion.

100%. We need a Senate Leader who supports Trump all the way. Not some Democrat posing as a Republican. John Cornyn or Thune will work against Trump every chance they get, just as McConnell did. We need a real fighter in the Senate and Scott is the only conservative we can trust to move Trump's agenda forward.

They happened because of McConnell’s political skills. He also bitches about Paul Ryan.
