I love his books, but this guy must have been on some goooooood acid.

I'm reading his "colors" book to my 3 year old tonight before bed, and we get to pink.

"Mistress Mouse's tow-truck is pink"

Mistress Mouse.

Kid's book.

Yeah.

Good thing the drawing didn't have her with her feet on the dashboard.

The good one's always are, but I agree that his books are good. Be careful of page 87 in the Gold Buggy book, there is a rainbow colored giraffe that you can scratch n sniff and get high.

Maybe the dads are meant to enjoy the books as much as the sons?

Autographed Richard Scarry books make great gifts for kids. :)

I always wondered why that worm lived with those pigs. Was he adopted from a third world country?

ROFL

I always wondered why he didn't wear pants!

The books are great... the cartoons are SCARY.

I used to have the kids I babysat for try to find GoldBug in books in which he didn't appear. Kept 'em busy for hours.

:D

I'm going to look for that scratch and sniff, Bob.

I had the urge to scan the pic of Mistress Mouse and put it in this thread. I get scared about the whole copyright thingy though.

The best kids books/TV programmes are the ones that don't talk down to kids but have humour that is more advanced. There was a TV show in England with characters named Master Bates and Seaman Staines.

some of the most popular candy in Denmark are called, among other things:

Blonde Brains
Sewer Sludge
Garbage Dump
Cow Asses
Seagull Poop

and the most popular children's book in Europe is The Mole Who Wanted to Know Who Took a Shit on His Head.

someone took a dump on his head and he goes to all the other animals to ask if it was them. They show him what it looks like when they take a shit and he realises it wasn't, for example, the horse, cow, etc. But he finally gets his man.

Kids love it when you don't talk down to them.

I'm a BIG Richard Scarry fan! His books are one of very few things I collect. It's not unusual for me to get some of the older books for my birthday or Christmas. Yeah I'm a dork, and I admit it. But hey, someone has to be.

BTW, I read them to our Daughter, but she isn't allowed to touch them. HANDS OFF GIRL, those are Daddies! :D
