RFK's speechwriter voting Trump.

Here we go.
You and many other GBers might think of me as a dumb racist, and I'll probably get a "Fuck off you hypochritical racist" for saying these: *shrugs*. But fee speech permits even dumb racists to express their opinion:

This is the underguy from until a week ago, who was always very open about his views and criticism of american foreign politics and ideology. Yet until a week ago, he was doing it in an informative, eye-opening wow! sort of way. Instead of limitting himself to labeling american laypeople and unproductive 'racist hunting' of GBers.

Excellent article. Not saying that it's necessarily correct or unbiased (history showed, repeatedly, that politicians often break their pre-election promiseses. Moreover, Trump made some pretty outrageous comments about minorities).
But it's well written and makes some good points.

I C&Ped some paragraphs that I thought were interesting and relevant: (they're less than 20%)

"Washington And The World
The years of constant combat .[...] But, ominously, there is more to come.. [… ]
And now we can see the result. The violence we took to other countries bounces back to our own. The money we squandered on bombs in Iraq was not available for our own schools.

So my hope for America is this.
First, we must begin immediately to end our involvement in endless, unnecessary and therefore murderous wars.
We need our best young people to help us here at home; to stop the reckless military spending on more armaments.
We must and will defend civilized order against its deadly enemies. ISIS and its brethren must be eliminated: no quarter, no hesitation. But we will need to engage all civilized peoples in our mutual defense. We must abandon foolish skirmishes and petty jealousies. We must end our reflexive efforts to dominate other developed nations, especially Russia and China.

Second, we must at the same time begin to recover our domestic peace. There are many ills to be cured, many shortcomings to be righted.
But nothing can be accomplished in the midst of a war against police, an insurrection against the Constitution itself.
Our clear priority is reinforcement of our police and police departments. We need many more and better police. We need them to be better trained, not as warriors but as shepherds, as leaders and teachers of the young, as peacemakers in communities that have not known real peace for many years. We need our very best young people, not getting their legs blown off by IEDs in Afghanistan, but saving all of our lives in St. Louis and Chicago and Detroit and Baton Rouge and all the other wasted places in our own land.

Donald Trump has been mocked mercilessly for saying, “America first.”
But to demand that all the actions of government, at home or abroad, be first directed at the interests and well-being of our own country [… ] represents the deepest wisdom and tradition of American statesmen from the founders on. Flawed as he may be, Trump is telling more of the truth than politicians of our day. Most important, he offers a path away from constant war.[… ]"

Those supporting Tromp ignore his scumbaggery, his racism and sexism, his near-treason, and his total unpreparedness for facing political and diplomatic affairs. And that's the good stuff.

I've not yet read the article and likely won't. But I already know that, while Clinton is flawed, Tromp is disastrous.

Translating for the other side in objective point of view (sigh, fuck). Those supporting Clinton in her scumbaggery, her near treason. Clinton and Trump are the same person. Your party alliance makes your decision. Both candidates stink on ice.

As a foreigner who's obviously out of the loop re american politics ,
my only interest in reading this article was that it outlined some interesting and true stuff. I don't see them as being a necessary reflection on either candidates.

Do those reflect Trump's foreign policy? Hell if I know.
Because I heard bad things about both candidates, and Trump in particular said some outrageous things.
It might well be that the reporter was one of Trump's paid pundits who, just like his speech writers, taught him what things to parrot in order to get votes. And that it's all just a big marketing strategy a lie coming from him.

Because one thing that makes me suspect that it might possibly be bullshit talk is the fact that -as I was told- not only Hillary, but also Trump advocated for an increase in military spending.

So as far as I'm concerned, I was only interested in the ideas expressed, and not in the candidates.
The US is still the most powerful empire in the world, and it still impacts on the rest of us and other countries' politics mirror it. The beauty of globalisation.
Hence my interest in american politics.

So you're trolling me now too?

Looking for Brownie points from your new gang are you?

When you can't decide based on the Presidential candidates, it might help to look at the VP choices.

Trump's VP has repeatedly said "I am a Christian, a Conservative, and a Republican, in that order."

I don't like that statement much. First off, being an American never made his list. Second, I don't want someone who is more likely to try to turn his religious beliefs into secular laws. This is not a theocracy, and I do not want it to become one.

Who wants to list the major knocks against Cinton's VP?

1. Represents Wall St, not America.

Desperation thread.

Love it.

Nope. Not even close. I despise both of the extreme right wing War Party candidates.

You're carrying water for the war criminal, neoliberal 1%er of the two.

Tromp's scumbaggery and treason are well documented. Clinton's is rumored. I'm no fan of Clinton. I have never voted for any Clinton or their gang including Gore and Kerry. Party alliance? I'm a registered Green.

Here, I can tell the difference between the career pol and the self-aggrandizing shit who screws his contractors and investors and family, calls for foreign diddling in USA elections, calls for the assassination of political opponents, and pushes hate and fear. Can you tell the difference?

Yeah, one's a political pro and one's an amateur.

FWIW: Whitewater Prosecutor Backs Hillary
Michael Chertoff, the lead prosecutor on the Senate Whitewater Committee that targeted Bill and Hillary Clinton, is now endorsing the former secretary of State for president. For Chertoff, his decision on who to back was based on national security. “I realized we spent a huge amount of time in the ’90s on issues that were much less important than what was brewing in terms of terrorism,” Chertoff admitted, adding that Clinton “has good judgment and a strategic vision how to deal with the threats that face us.” He called the 1990s investigations “very, very insignificant” compared to the national-security challenges the U.S. now faces. As a senator, Clinton was the only one to vote against Chertoff’s nomination to lead the Justice Department’s criminal division in 2001, as well as his nomination to the U.S. Court of Appeals.
He's no friend but he's also no dummy.

Why in the world would anyone care what RFK's speechwriter is doing? It's like caring who Nixons barber is voting for.
