Rewriting Story For Different Category

I just had a story approved and posted, however, it was posted under the "incest" category, which seems somewhat limiting to me in the potential audience. I was wondering if it would be against the rules to rewrite the story to remove the incest aspect, and post it again to hopefully have it categorized differently.

I wouldn't want to remove the original, since it has already gotten several positive comments in only one day, but am afraid posting another similar version would appear to be an attempt to cheat in some contest or other (I don't plan to enter the Survivor's contest, since I won't be posting a lot of stories). I'd appreciate any advice, and certainly will abide by whatever rules govern this kind of thing.

If the only reason you want to remove the incest is to get a bigger audience you are making a mistake. Incest is the biggest viewed category on Lit by far. People can revile it and say the stories and authors are sick but bottom line it gets the hits by far. Your story already has more views than a BDSM story would have after a month. If you want exposure your already in the right place.

When I submitted an expanded version of a story here, I got the runaround about having only one version posted on Lit. (although I eventually prevailed). So, unless you've changed the title and blurb, you might have some trouble reposting it with only slight changes.

The title has to be changed somewhat or it will say you already have a story listed with that title. You can rewrite the entire thing but if the title is the same they won't look any further and boot it back.

I'll remember that, but for now, since I find that the incest category is the most popular, I think I leave this one where it is and forget doing another version. Thanks for the input, though.

I realize I am probably kicking a dead horse here, but I will add something. I used to post stories in the Celebrity and Erotic Horror cats and quickly became disillusioned that I was not getting the required 10 votes to earn a rating (Hot, etc.) and so I was told that Incest was where the action is. And so I now write quite a bit in this area. So yeah, I agree with the others.
