Eurozone engineered it's own collapse starting in 1973. It was the intersection of three events/realizations. The Arab oil embargo, the fact that their demographics was collapsing, and that demographics collapse signaled that they wouldn't be able to support their overly generous 'social' programs. They needed taxpayers to support their programs and hence their political power. And based on their own citizenship laws, laws that caused them to believe they could take their money without giving them a political voice. That was a powder keg with a slow burning fuse.
