Rest in Peace Robin Williams

Wow! Jeez who would have thought someone who could bring such laughter could be so hurting on the inside.

I remember the first time I saw him (and what may have been his first big gig) when he appeared on Happy days.

Well hopefully he found the peace he couldn't in this life.

Damn. He will be missed. A funny, funny man.

Just watch him in August Rush again last night.

Robbie wasn't the original Multiple Drug-Abuse Kit, but he worked at it. I'm rather surprised he lasted this long.

I remember him on Inside the Actor's Studio and the candid interview he gave. He talked about how much John Belushi's death bothered him after and how he felt the responsibility of it on himself. He gave up drugs several times but alas, it was the better of him.
I loved his brand of comedy, especially his stand up routines. His movies always pushed the boundaries, but he made them acceptable to the public, eg; The Bird Cage w/Nathan Hale.

The best comedians make you think and re-examine - he did that, in spades.
It's very sad but not that surprising.

Semi-O-T, but it was Lane.

Hale was a Revolutionary War Hero, whereas Lane continues on "Good Wife".

What a loss. He had such a range of ability and the talent to pull off virtually any role.

Nanu Nanu, Mr. Williams, and thanks for all the laughs over the years.

Every now and again, a comedian with HUGE talent emerges. Such was Robin Williams.
His 'motormouth' things in Good Morning Vietnam are as funny now as they were then and I reckon his Patch Adams one of the most touching of performances.

Rest in Peace, Mr Williams, you have amused us.
It's time now for you to amuse God.

Sad. Addiction => Death.

More likely "mental illness => death"; this is being reported as suicide, not an OD, and RW seems to have had a long history of depressive illness. Although his drug/alcohol use could well have exacerbated it.

Terrible shame, whatever the circumstances behind it.

Guys spends his life depressed and fighting addiction and reaches the point of despair that he takes his own life.

Then inevitably someone brings up god.

If "god" showed himself a fraction of the amount that depression and addiction rears its head maybe people like me could buy that there is one. But I don;t have to worry about that.

and I know 'god' shows himself every day in puppies and rainbows and.....blech.

Another pathetic worm with little balls.

Yep, another normal, fallible, vulnerable human among the many billions on the planet. With enormous talent that, in the end, didn't protect him from his demons. I assume that's what you were trying to say, in shorthand.

Naaah. He wasn't a dummy. He had the resources to treat the problem. He wasn't homeless or crippled. He was a drunk who wallowed in his misery. Even so no one is depressed 24/7.

Comments like this is the reason you are a former therapist or whatever it was you said you were.

And youre a clueless dolt and mind reader like your AH daddy.

You'd be amazed at how many people are helped by a dose of raw truth about themselves. The sob hasn't missed a meal or a car payment in 40 years. Had all the pussy he wanted. He liked being high and hadda pity party to get some attention.

Drunks do wallow. Ive never met a single one who doesn't blame the world for everything. Of all the addictions, they simply don't or can't take personal responsibility. And then they have to be forced to in 12 Step meetings.
They cling to the Why Me attitude like no one else.

But we don't know much about RW. It's speculation Perhaps he'd stopped drinking and it was something else entirely.
Its horrifying no matter what.
