Can i respond to a comment direct?

Only by writing your own comment (but no guarantee the person will ever see your response); or, if the commenter has an account name, you could send them a PM or Feedback.

If the comment is hostile, don't bother replying - it won't be worth it.

It's a shame this isn't a feature. Not many people actually leave comments, so it would be nice to say thanks or something by replying to the comment in a way that would trigger a notification to them.
