Hmmm, where do I start?

Well, I'm just going to go over how I felt about the film. I'm not going to give a run down of the movie....somoen might wanna go see it so no spoilers are ahead I think.

Well anyway, T virus is loose in the lab under Raccoon City. Looks like they did away with the lab disguised as a mansion part and just made the mansion the entrance to the lab. The house is more of a train station than anything else.

They got most of the zombie actions down. Zombies in varying states of decay stumbling about like drunks.

I didn't like the Red Queen computer thing but she doesn't get as much time as I originally feared so she's quickly forgotten.

As for the monsters....not many familiar faces. The zombies, a half dozen Cerberus creatures ( Cerberi? Cerberuses? ) and a lone "Licker". No Hunters, no giant spiders, no giant anything, no Tyrant. The first RE product in existance without a Tyrant class creature.

No familiar heroes/heroines. No Jill, Chris, Rebecca....Barry..Where's Barry? No Wesker either. I found myself not really caring if certain people survived or not. Most of the team that actually had any worth character wise sent in the lab were killed nearly immediately. The main character had no real personality at first then all of a sudden became a one woman army.

The scenes with the zombies are actually pretty decent. The scene involving the initial zombie contact was amusing. The Cerberus attack was also fast and furious. Fast in that the scene lasted all of 20 seconds. The Licker didn't get but a few minutes worth of actual camera time.

All in all it was rather entertaining. Except for the dipshits I had to share the theatre with. The jackass that kept talking through the whole damn thing. The guy who got calls on his cell phone every mother fucking 15 minutes and would always ask in a rather loud voice, "WHAT I MISS?!".

I recommend waiting for the video.

Well, I don't know anything about the game, but I found the movie entertaining. It was hokey, but fun. And it's all perfectly set up for a sequel!

I wanted more gore, but maybe I'm just sick...

Thanks for the head's up. I am going to see it today.
I have been waiting for this movie for a long time, and I hope it does well enough to have a sequel. :)

I thought Resident Evil was rather decent (as far as movies baised off of video games goes anyway). I mean, there are a long line of Video Game Movies (Mario Brothers, Final Fantasy, Pokemon, Street Fighter, Mortal Combat, Double Dragon, and so on) and, quite honistly, Resident Evil was the most true to the game than any others.

Sure there where no characters from the game, but at the same time there didn't have to be (plus, there are makings for instant sequal, so there may be time for characters from the game in it). The movie kept the entire theater on the edge of it's seats, with heart stopping suspence, and above all, a kick ass plot (plus, when the virus spread, that was just cool).

I personally liked the way they ran the red queen. I was hoping she wouldn't be a major player, and she wasn't.

There should have been more vilians from the game. A hunter would have been nice, and where the hell was Tyrant?!? The visual effects where so-so, but the make-up work for the vompies and Cerburs where outstanding! It made you feel that there where actual dead people and dogs walking about the screan.

I give Resident Evil five smiles (on a 10 smile scale)
:) :) :) :) :)

Thanks for the reviews. I cannot wait to see it. If only to see how it compared to the games. ;)

I really liked playing the games on my playstation, so I am really looking forward to seeing the movie. Looking at the previews, it looks pretty cool. Thanks for the heads up about waiting for the video, but some movies HAVE to be seen in a theater. Has anyone played the game Parasite Eve or Parasite Eve II ? I think those would make some pretty cool movies too.

Definately would be good movies...and uh yea I have those too...

Just awful.....

I didn't realize that it was based on a video game until about 1/3 of the way through. As a standalone movie (which is the way I viewed it), it just plain sucked. The plot was video-game narrow, the characters shallow, and the action to BOO!ish. Save your money, unless you are really into the video game. I wasn't, and I was majorly disappointed.

Something I forgot to mention is .... I think the reason there are no S.T.A.R.S. is because this is like the very very beginning. How the whole thing started from inside Umbrella Corp. Now that it has been taken a bit further.... if and when they make a sequel it better have S.T.A.R.S. people in it.

From what I could tell in the game Umbrella intentionally exposed the workers in the mansion to the virus and let the monsters loose purposely. Then they used their former employee current STARS operative Wesker to lure the STARS to the mansion to get data about how the BOW faired against a military trained team.

There was no computer or anything just a few people who quietly released the virus.

As for the STARS

He's coming for us! We're all gonna die!
