i agree with you....unfortunately many men i meet in real life think i must be stupid because i'm cute so i get the stereotypical shoe shopping comment thrown at me, which i quickly deflect with a comment about physics or literature, then watch them run away confused!

Having managed computer game stores for 14+ years and employed many female staff I'd say attitudes are improving. It is rare my staff are challenged on their ability or intelligence, and hold their own regardless of gender.

Well, I'm pretty sure the men that make those comments are the men you don't want to be bothering about anyway, so nothing lost there. And as it stands, a nice repartee is one of those moments that make me look twice at a woman. And a cute woman to top it off? That's more or less the necessary ingredients for a bookstore fantasy. I love a woman that can hold her own in a conversation.

This post has inspired me to request a PM to talk about physics or literature. History or some other science would also be acceptable topics. Almost anything intellectual would be nice. To paraphrase a great man, there are only three things I don't discuss in mixed company; religion, politics, and The Great Pumpkin.
