Dem lawmaker drops hammer on GOPers ‘covering their butts’ by rushing to defend Vindman after Trump fired him

Saying “spare me,” Rep. Sean Maloney (D-NY) trashed the anonymous Republican lawmakers who contacted the New York Times to claim they tried to stop Donald Trump from firing EU Ambassador Gordon Sondland and Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman to make it look like they cared.

Speaking with MSNBC host Kendis Gibson, the New York lawmaker expressed disgust with what he called their “cowardice,” while reacting to a New York Times report noting the alleged concerns of Republicans over the president’s actions.

“I think what you’re seeing there is pretty obvious,” Maloney stated. “You’re seeing vulnerable Republicans, after the fact, try to cover their butts by leaking to the New York Times that they want us all to know they were deeply troubled by this. And even though they took a vote that could have absolutely guaranteed that people like Lt. Col. Vindman would be hurt, would be made to pay the price for their fecklessness, for their cowardice, they want us to know they were troubled by it.”

“They’re going to continue to support this president, but they want the New York Times to know they secretly know it’s wrong,” he continued. “Spare me. That’s what I mean. I don’t need phony off-the-record after-the-fact friends.”

Sucker's Remorse?

But their poll numbers (except for Romney) went UP, including Trump's.

It's almost like the People were satisfied with the outcome.

If you look at Trump's highest-ever approval ratings which still have him underwater by 1% and that's what you see? Hey, more power to you. November should be fun.

Refresh my memory. Was that the night he was polling like 90 points behind Hillary and won the 2016 Presidential race?

No, he was never 90 points behind her. The final polls showed he had about a 25% chance of winning. Things with a 25% chance happen all the time, especially when someone (in this case the Russians) has their finger on the scale.

I see. So polls only matter after failed impeachments, not before presidential elections.

What is your fascination with Russians?

I'd wager its the same sort of fascination as you have with Ukrainian oil companies, or who they hire onto their boards.

Well in that case, it was a simple conversation between a couple heads of state giving the Ukes a heads up they had some problems. It only became a problem when Pelosi was hunting for any little scrap she could use in her coup attempt.

This is a virtual invasion of Euros, Aussies and Canooks involving themselves with the US political scene.

Nope. Didn't say anything that could be reasonably construed as that, and I won't even pretend to understand how you got from what I said to what you apparently heard.

You must have some kind of upside down logic down there, then.

Since I never denied that polls mattered at any point, I don't see how. My point was the polls showed him with a significant chance of winning in 2016, and they show even at his highest point, he's still not very popular now.

I guess 2020 will tell whether the polls matter yet.

Someday you should look into "selection criteria". It might change you mind in polls, or at least allow you to have a moderately informed opinion.

See you at the polls. If you bother, or even can. You never mentioned if you're an American expatriate or just some Aussie with a Merica boner.

I used to work at a polling firm. Can we say "mansplaining"?

Yes I have, you obviously just weren't paying attention.

.

NO WONDER you have such pure comprehension skills!

That explains it all.

Lol, I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were mentally challenged. Please, have someone our you a cup of coffee and enjoy your day. Are you allowed caffeine?

YB at his best! Hillary was obnoxious, overconfident and had an outright shitty campaign strategy. Calling half the American population deplorables is just one of her many character flaws. It's that demonstrable, despicable arrogance that most lefty lunes have in their DNA. Did you notice that he blames the Russians for Hillary's loss. Another major character flaw with the elites progressive socialist lefty lunes, they never accept responsibility for their own failures, it's always somebody else's fault. They're incapable of learning from their mistakes because their snobby upturned noses are too far up their own... better than thou... asses. They are so preoccupied with Trump that the whole election is blowing right past them and they're clueless. Carville is right "they're too stupid" That's why they will lose in 2020.

Far-right Republicans are freaked out over a new Kevin McCarthy proposal

The leader of Republicans in the House of Representatives is facing resistance within his own caucus as he seeks to broaden the support of the GOP.

“House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is eagerly pushing a new conservative effort to combat climate change. But not everyone in the GOP is racing to embrace the plan just yet — and it’s already facing blowback from some groups on the right,” Politico reported.

Rethuglicunts are appalled that Kevin would dare say "Climate Change!"

The Values We Share (or Why I Am A Republican)

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share via email Print

I’ve been a Republican since I was 18-years-old. I hardly recognize the party today—at least, the party in Washington, D.C. But even in the distressed state it’s in, I would rather fix the Republican party than leave it.

The Republican party I joined on the eve of the Reagan era brought different people and ideas together. That was the secret of its widespread support. But although it was diverse, it was not unprincipled. When Republicans remember the good old days, we remember the values we share.

What do we share? First, Republicans are conservatives. We value order, stability, prudence, honesty, and the preservation of our republic. We have always put a premium on respect for established institutions: they can be improved, but they should not be denigrated or assaulted.

What else are we? We are patriots. We love the Constitution, revere the Madisonian system for the political work of art that it is, respect those who defend our way of life, and are watchful against those who would threaten it.

Kiss the GOP goodbye! The Trumpinistas have sucked the life out of the Grand Old Party and now your heros are Moscow Mitch and Devin Moo Nunes. Sucks to be you.

I think Fuzz and Ogg are in it for the yucks. Bored?

The Y kid from Australia though. He's either on a payroll or he's a true believer (Kool aid drinker) for the radical left.

Do you really think you look any less extreme from my perspective than I do from yours? Just curious.

My dear Y.

I don't actually care how you feel, either about me or about your politics. You are foolish and amusing. And easy to bait.

You don't know how right you are. The HIV/AIDS epidemic broke out on the West coast in the US during the Reagan years. The CDC tried to get the blood suppliers to test the blood using a test that was 86% accurate at the time. The blood suppliers said no. Reagan refused to use his office to put pressure on them because he was homophobic. It was not until a San Francisco socialite came down with HIV after having surgery. She was married and faithful to her marriage vows. Reagan would not fund HIV research or educating or warning the public. Reagan's actions wiped out generations of hemophiliacs. He was a murderer.

No....hemophilia wiped out generations of hemophiliacs.

All presidents are murderers in some capacity. Comes with the job.
