Republicans

An indicted close confidant of Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz has struck a deal with federal prosecutors to greatly reduce his criminal case and plans to help investigators in their sprawling investigation that includes a sex trafficking probe.

Joel Greenberg, a former Seminole County, Florida, tax commissioner, had faced decades in prison on 33 federal counts that ranged from identity theft to sex trafficking of a minor, as well as fraud and bribery allegations.

He plans to now plead guilty to six federal charges, after striking a deal with prosecutors, including a count of sex trafficking of a child, according to a new court filing.

The Greenberg plea documents released Friday paint the picture of a man gone wild -- using popular cellphone apps to make contacts, paying thousands of dollars for sex with younger women, having drug-laced, multi-person rendezvous at hotels like an Embassy Suites, and repeatedly taking advantage of his public office's power and financial coffers.

The Orlando-based federal court revealed on Thursday that Greenberg was planning to plead guilty next week, but details weren't initially available.

Federal investigators are still examining whether Gaetz broke federal sex trafficking, prostitution and public corruption laws and whether he had sex with a minor. Gaetz has not been charged and denies any wrongdoing. The congressman isn't mentioned in the 86 pages of plea deal documents released on Friday.

Since Donald Trump was sworn into office I've heard Republicans proclaim that collusion isn't a crime, fraud isn't a crime, sexual assault isn't a crime, perjury isn't a crime and lying to the FBI isn't a crime. ....

"Collusion" is not defined in the criminal code. Fraud, assault (sexual or otherwise), perjury are. Subtle distinction that you fail to make. Moreover, I've never heard Republicans say that fraud, assault, or perjury are not crimes. Can you document that claim?

The Biden administration has delivered documents relating to the Trump Organization’s D.C. hotel to Congressional investigators. The D.C. hotel has been under scrutiny because of issues including the opportunity while Trump was in office for patrons to directly financially support the thenn-president of the United States by staying at the property. Throughout his entire presidency, Trump remained financially tied to his businesses, so that opportunity to patronize the then-president’s businesses presented clear conflict of interest concerns. Trump could have acted to prioritize those who’d financially supported him.

The Trump hotel-tied records came from the General Services Administration (GSA) after House Transportation Committee chair Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.) re-requested them in March of this year following earlier stonewalling from the Trump administration. As summarized by CNN, the GSA “responded in a letter to DeFazio last week that it was turning over some of the requested records, including monthly financial statements from the Trump hotel, audits and lease amendments.” The GSA did not provide Trump hotel-tied legal memos, insisting that those constituted “internal executive branch legal advice.”

The agency told DeFazio that they were “still working to fulfill DeFazio’s request for memos and communications from the White House or other federal agencies” relating to the Trump hotel’s lease, as summarized by CNN. Another issue is the fact that, while in office, Trump was at the helm of the federal government — which was responsible for the lease to his own company for the usage of the building where his D.C. hotel has operated. The hotel is in a government building, the Old Post Office building to be exact, and with Trump in office, the handling of the lease could have been unfairly shifted in his favor due to political pressure.

Rep. Marjorie Greene is crying victim-

Marjorie Taylor Greene Claims She’s Being Tormented By Democrats

“Representative Cori Bush attacked me in the tunnel, screaming at me."
Screaming, I never said a word to her.'

"She goes by screaming at me to put on a mask."
"That’s a verbal assault,” Greene said.

Happy to see an editorial cartoonists give a figurative "smack in the eye,"
to Rep. Andrew Clyde, R-Ga

Using a Zumi-style Lit joke, of "fixed your post," replacing a single word-

"...if you didn't know the TV footage was a video from January the 6th,
you would actually think it was a normal tourist visit."

reads differently-

"if you didn't know the TV footage was a video from January the 6th,
you would actually think it was a normal terrorist visit."

Once upon a time, didn't the Republican Party claim to be the Party of Law and Order? How did they become the Party of Obstruction and Cover-Ups?

I have never heard anyone say anything you just stated

Actually, the way it works now is that IF A REPUBLICAN commits sexual assault or perjury or any number of other crimes they're not crimes. Donald Trump, Roy Moore and Brett Kavanaugh can commit all the crimes they want and they'll still be heroes of the Republican Party, however if a Democrats is even ACCUSED they must resign IMMEDIATELY!! No hearings, no investigation, no trial, they must resign immediately. Just ask Al Franken.

And this double standard has been going on since Fox "news" Channel got their broadcast license. Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and other talking heads at Fox "news" spread the narrative that all Republicans are heroic, trustworthy, super-patriotic Americans, no matter how much evidence points to the fact that they're just lying, nefarious criminals, that have betrayed their oaths of office. Meanwhile Fox ALSO spreads the narrative that all Democrats are lying, scheming bastards who are up to no good...even if they've been investigated for 30 years and there's not a scrap of evidence that they've ever done anything wrong.

Being from Alabama. How do you figure. Roy Moore keeps losing here. Where are you getting your information?

Your point being? He didn't say Roy Moore was winning elections; he just said he was a "hero in the Republican Party", which is true. :)

Don't you just love it when a moron reboots with a new alt and still remains a moron? We got a bunch of them springing up. Moon must be full

Well no. I am sure he is not.

You're wrong. Allow me to educate you. :)

For your reading pleasure:

“Judge Moore is a fine man of proven character and integrity, who I have come to respect over the years...I was delighted to hear he is running for the US Senate. He is truly someone who reflects the Judeo-Christian values that were so important to the establishment of our country. It is these values that we must return to in order to make America great again." - Ben Carson

“When liberals attacked, Moore didn’t fold...A lot of conservatives said Moore was wrong to refuse to comply with the court’s idiotic ruling [to remove the Ten Commandments monument]… But if I were a man rather than part of the frivolous, nonproductive chattering class, Roy Moore is the man I’d like to be.” - Ann Coulter

“I think we can call the race for ‘Man of the Year’ right now. And there’s not even a close second, [Roy Moore wins]. In this day and age of men without chests, Judge Roy Moore is the archeological [sic] find that discovers a precious relic from antiquity...He doesn’t calculate before doing the right thing, nor does he equivocate afterwards. Rather, he is steadfast in his courage of conviction and commitment to principle. The rate our culture’s foundations are crumbling is further accelerating because of the loss of such men across our institutions and families, including our courts.”- Steve Deace, Conservative Review

"Get out and vote for Roy Moore!" - Donald Trump

Andrew Clyde said calling the January 6th riot an insurrection was a "bald-faced lie"
and that it looked more like a "normal tourist visit."

It would seem that Andrew Clyde knows a thing or two about making bald-faced lies.

After Clyde's comments, a photographer shared a photo he had taken of Clyde
using furniture to barricade the House against rioters trying to force their way
in to disrupt the certification of President Joe Biden's election victory. Several
people died in the riot.

So much for the "normal visit" by tourists visiting the Capitol.

Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) lied.

After spreading racist slurs like "Chinese Virus," "Kung flu" and "Wuhan virus," the Chinese American Civil Rights Coalition has launched a lawsuit against former President Donald Trump.

The lawsuit citing court documents that point to Trump's use of the slurs as defamation and infliction of emotional distress. They are seeking $1 for every Asian American and Pacific Islander living in the United States. While it might seem ceremonial, a settlement would total $22.9 million.

It began in March 2020 in a speech where Trump was seen to have crossed out "corona virus" and replaced it with "Chinese virus" written over it. It's for that reason that the CACRC is nailing the racism on Trump. They called it a dog whistle to his supporters which ultimately led to a dramatic increase in violent attacks on Asian Americans.

Senior Donald Trump advisor Jason Miller has been ordered to pay Gizmodo Media Group $41,868.23 following a failed defamation lawsuit.

Miller had sued Gizmodo over a 2018 story by Splinter News, which is owned by the company, over a 2018 story titled, "Court Docs Allege Ex-Trump Staffer Drugged Woman He Got Pregnant With 'Abortion Pill."

"The ongoing custody battle between former Trump campaign operatives Jason Miller and A.J. Delgado has taken another nasty turn: In an explosive new court filing, Delgado's legal team alleges that Miller—prior to their own high-profile extramarital romance—carried out an affair with a woman he met at an Orlando strip club. Additionally, the court documents claim, when the woman found out she was pregnant, Miller surreptitiously dosed her with an abortion pill without her knowledge, leading, the woman claims, to the pregnancy's termination and nearly her death," Katherine Krueger reported.

"According to the court documents—which were filed in Miami-Dade Circuit Court on Sept. 14 and obtained by Splinter—the alleged relationship started in 2012, when Miller was working for prominent Republican ad firm Jamestown Associates. The filing alleges that Miller, whose Twitter bio states that he now works as managing director at Teneo Strategy and as a political commentator on CNN, brought clients to Rachel's Gentleman's Club in Orlando, where he met a dancer identified only as Jane Doe," Splinter reported.

Splinter quoted directly from the legal filing.

"Shortly thereafter, according to Joe Doe, Mr. Miller visited her at her apartment with a Smoothie beverage. Unbeknownst to Jane Doe, the Smoothie contained an abortion bill. [sic] The pill induced an abortion, and Jane Doe wound up in a hospital emergency room, bleeding heavily and nearly went into a coma," the filing alleged. "The unborn child died. Jane Doe herself was hospitalized for two days"

The Manhattan district attorney has convened a grand jury that is expected to weigh any criminal evidence against former President Trump, the Trump Organization and top executives of his company and decide whether to issue indictments, according to The Washington Post.

Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr.’s office has reportedly been investigating an array of potential financial misconduct, including criminal fraud.

News of the grand jury is the latest sign of a quickening investigative pace for Vance’s probe, which is unfolding alongside an overlapping inquiry by the New York attorney general. Their offices are now coordinating efforts.

The grand jury is expected to hear several legal matters in addition to potential evidence of questionable financial activity linked to the former president and the Trump Organization, according to The Post, which said the panel will gather three days a week for six months.

Among the millions of pages of documents in evidence are eight years’ worth of Trump’s tax returns, which Vance’s office obtained in February after a long legal battle.

One theory is that the company inflated the value of assets to get more favorable terms for bank loans, insurance and tax breaks and deflated the value to reduce the amount owed in real estate taxes.

Trump biographer Tim O’Brien thinks the Trump organization’s chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg could turn against Donald Trump if he’s facing the prospect of jail time.

According to O’Brien, “If it comes to showing loyalty to Donald Trump or a prison term, you know I don’t think he’s going to prison.”

Investigators have clearly been putting legal pressure on Weisselberg and Weisselberg’s family. This has understandably made Trump nervous, as Weisselberg knows where all the bodies are buried.
