You want to talk "despicable"? You want to talk about "sleazy and slimy"? This is what is truly despicable, sleazy, and slimy to the utmost: in several states, Republicans are deliberately harassing and intimidating black voters (who overwhelmingly vote Democratic) at the polls, in an effort to prevent them from voting. There are numerous articles on the web about this. Here's just one:

What began (long ago) as the party of abolition has long since turned into the party of racism, sexism, and homophobia.

Sir Charles Barkley said to call you a Bellafonte...

Markets going up up up and away!

:D

A large portion of people that are heavily involved in their political parties are zealots. There have been local reports of Republicans filming each black person that entered and exited a polling place, all the way to their cars, in order to make them feel uncomfortable voting. There are also reports of both parties posting signs that the polling place was for their respective party only.

The point? Don't judge the whole by the fringe element. It gives you a distorted image.

Democrats

are doing the same fucking thing with their lawyers at the polls

Except in St. Louis where the judges keep the polls open long after the watchers have left.

*yawn*

When do we get the actual grown up journalism source? Call me a capitalist scumbag, but I don't trust RED's sesame street news.

Those are pretty bad watchers, then. It's the duty of watchers to stay until the last person votes.

In St. Louis I'd be willing to bet every single person at the polls is a Democrat. It's Carnahan's only chance...

And a good one based on past shennanigans in the city of the Arch.

And to train Slayers.

Jeez, with all the Buffy freaks on this board, you wouldn't think I would be the first to post that...?

Dems robbed of Senate seat

In other breaking news, Governor Jesse Ventura has appointed Dean Barkley of the Independence Party (formerly the Reform Party, the one founded by Ross Perot) as the temporary replacement for Paul Wellstone. This will make the lame-duck Senate split at 49 Dems and 49 Repubs, with two independents. Jim Jeffords (former Republican) votes with the Dems on most issues. However, Barkley, who describes himself as a "fiscal conservative," can be counted on to vote with the Republicans most of the time. That will leave the Senate split-- and then guess who gets to vote to break the tie? The amazing disappearing Dick!

Ventura originally said he'd appoint a Democrat to replace Wellstone, but has now reneged on that promise. The combination of Wellstone's death under extremely suspicious circumstances (strongly suggesting political assassination) with Ventura's appointment of Barkley as his replacement, has served to rob the Democrats of a crucial Senate seat, and thus control of the Senate, by totally undemocratic means.

You mean like Jumpin' Jim changing Parties AFTER the election?

Walter Mondale is a crafty old fuck. He's been wanting to get back into politics for years.

Pathetic.

When Carnahan looses tommorrow, Talent gets her seat immediately anyway...

Well, according to the World Socialist Web Site (and how much more unbiased can you get for a web site?), Geoge Bush is to blame for half of the world's poor, his father is responsible for half, and Reagan is responsible for the other half, and for all of the homeless people in the U.S.

From now on, I'm voting the Green party, or was that the Little Green Men party?

That's three halves.

LOL

Ummmm... that was kinda the point. I might make tons of typos on the board, but I'd pretty much never make a legitimate math error, Misch.
