Is it really a thing? I've been invited to be a Charter Member. And urged to donate at the same time. It's not postage pre-paid like the last solicitation was. It has a Strategy Survey enclosed. Bottom line: I'm doomed to be on their mailing list for all eternity (or November 3rd, whichever comes first).

On a positive note, lots of empty seats tonight, considering 1 million signed up for a ticket to attend. Anyone making odds on Brad Parscale's continued tenure?

A magazine received a solicitation from Newt Gingrich 20ish years ago. For a donation, they get a monogrammed gavel. The suggested donation was $5, maybe $20. The magazine donated a toy pig. Getting their gavel required some phone work to make the point that the toy was a legitimate donation.

I think that's pretty standard shtick for political fundraising (the survey no one is going to pay attention to, the conferring of some elite "status" if you give a little more). I had a grandmother who used to get all this shit from the Reagan people back in the day.

Once you're on their list, even shooting someone on 5th Avenue won't get you off it.
