[/QUOTE]VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson suggested on-air that American operatives assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to stop his country from becoming "a launching pad for communist infiltration and Muslim extremism."

"We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability," Robertson said Monday on the Christian Broadcast Network's "The 700 Club."

"We don't need another $200 billion war to get rid of one, you know, strong-arm dictator," he continued. "It's a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with."

Should we censor him?

I was raised a Christian Democrat and more than one of my grandfather's letters earned him a visit from the FBI. He really hated Nixon...

I thought Gawd trumped politics.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle see His banners go!

Refrain

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

At the sign of triumph Satan’s host doth flee;
On then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
Brothers lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.

Refrain

Like a mighty army moves the church of God;
Brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod.
We are not divided, all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.

Refrain

What the saints established that I hold for true.
What the saints believèd, that I believe too.
Long as earth endureth, men the faith will hold,
Kingdoms, nations, empires, in destruction rolled.

Refrain

Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,
But the church of Jesus constant will remain.
Gates of hell can never gainst that church prevail;
We have Christ’s own promise, and that cannot fail.

Refrain

Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices in the triumph song.
Glory, laud and honor unto Christ the King,
This through countless ages men and angels sing.

As to war, not to war. See the difference?

Definitely not!! It's whats this country is all about!!! the right to say whatever you want!!! As long as it's not fire in a crowded theater!

Good Christian values there. "If we don't like you, or you don't like us, we'll kill you." I'm sure Jesus is proud to have men(and I use the term loosely) like Pat Robertson "represent" Him.

I don't see why he should be censored by the state.

On the other hand, his co-religionists should probably fire him.

Talk about bringing the religion into disrepute.

It's a marketing ploy for his new health-drink

"Pat's Age-Defying Shake'

Each one comes with a $50.00 coupon toward a diamond purchase of $2,000.00 or more.

Hey,...he's a busy man...

Pat Robertson, who has recently prayed away a hurricane and single…um…double-handedly prayed at least one conservative Supreme Court nominee within inches of the Court, had a divine misfire this week and accidentally smote Lynyrd Skynyrd. “I was aiming for Fitty Cent,” the soft-spoken heavenly assassin said when the news broke. “After the Supreme Court finally rolled over, thanks to my prayers two years ago, I was feeling a little frisky!” Following a successful prayer series earlier this spring aimed at toppling Dave Chappelle from his highly popular comedy throne, Pat Robertson decided to try his hand at the music business. “I think I input the wrong color-code,” Robertson said

This isn't about censorship. This is about a Christian preacher advocating the breaking of one of the 10 commandments: Thou shall not kill. Not to mention breaking what Christ called the second greatest commandment: Love your neighbor as yourself.

He's willing to condemn homosexuals for making love to one another, yet he avocates murder. The hyprocrisy is makes my head swim.

Censored? No

But I'd love to his 'contributions & gifts' dry up like a West Texas creekbed in July.

Pat is so cute ... *nods*

(from Media Matters)

From the August 16 edition of the Christian Broadcasting Network's The 700 Club:

ROBERTSON: I had interviewed a lady who was a sociologist who says "I am a lesbian," but she described homosexuality in this term, she said, "They are self-absorbed narcissists." I want you to put that down -- self-absorbed narcissists who are willing to destroy any institution so long as they can have affirmation of their lifestyle. You go back to the various laws that took away the difficulty of getting a divorce, and the people leading the charge were homosexuals, way back in the '70s. So we have no-fault divorce. Who are leading the charge for abortions? So often, you'll find people who are lesbians leading the fight for the destruction of human life. Now they want to destroy marriage.

The first no-fault divorce law in the nation was signed in California in 1969 by Gov. Ronald Reagan. :)

He's in the USA, and expressing an opinion. As a citizen it's his right.

As a presumed pillar of his allegedly Christian faith he needs to check the bible for the parts on turning the other cheek and "Thou shalt not kill."

Just as Michael Moore does not represent every Democrat or atheist, Pat Robertson does not represent ever Republican or Christian.

I disagree with most of what he said in this case (and much of what he has said in the past) but I do NOT disagree that from time to time the assassination of despots IS necessary.

I don't think many Rep/Conservatives-Christians would support all of his ideas but like BLE said, they do support assassination.

For those that don't support Robertson, it's a good time to look at his connections of money, power and influence. I'd like to know who supports that part of what he is.

My guess is that its thousands and thousands of middle income Americans. I dont see him getting much corporate support or even many power brokers in the GOP. Just like MOVEON.org the party heirarcy would rather they send in the $$$ and shut the fuck up.

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried.

Some Venezuelan assassin will be taking Mr. Robertson out tout suite.
