Reparations

Indeed. Toaster is perpetually pouting about the time i ripped the piss out of him for his ignorance about the workings of vaginas.

Lawlz.

Delusions of grandeur.

The only piss you got landed on your giant forehead. Have you reconsidered your AV?

Vaginas, speaking of yours I hear an echo. ☠

I think it's a silly virtue signal.

"Look how caring we are." lol.....it will never be enough.

A 100% wealth transfer from white to everyone else wouldn't be enough.

The total extermination of white people....wouldn't be enough.

But wealthier BAME people would still have contributed to helping poor whites?

Yes they had to pay their fair share, because equality.

Our war on poverty was a scam, but not a reparations scam.

When are the Brits doing reparations for the nastiness of the British Empire?

The Empire took over around 25% of the world's population. Brits killed and bullied to take over entire countries and regions. Massacres, famines, and concentration camps were part of the gig. (Source)

The Brits enslaved and killed to build the Empire. The sun never set on the atrocities. A few trillion might cover it.

No denying that. Though, again, not sure why that's your only reaction to some private companies deciding they should invest in BAME...

Why are y'all incapable of offering an option on the topic of discussion? It's like that scene in the original Total Recall, where Arnie's head hasn't been preprogrammed with the correct response, so it just keeps repeating "Two weeks".

Like you are a pro on staying on topic kettle.

"Reparations" is a trigger word for some. Seeing/hearing the word causes involuntary reactions similar to Tourette syndrome. They can't help but piss all over things when they see/hear it.

Perhaps if I'd called it making amends instead, the knee jerk could have been avoided.

Private companies can do whatever they want or need to do from a public relations perspective. That's smart business. Generally, it is done to signal their virtue and most often accompanied by print ads and media commercials scored with contemplative, sincere piano music. Sometimes it is done because leadership genuinely believes there have been historical or current wrongs. Sometimes both.

Businesses have a place in the public arena but always, always remember they are (almost) always doing it for their bottom line in some way or measure.

As an aside Jessie Jackson - one of the great race-baiters in the USA of all time - has "shook the money tree" many times getting corporations to give in to demands lest they face the consequences of protests and being branded as racists. It's made him and his family quite wealthy.

Think the BLM leaders are aware of that ploy? I certainly do. :)

Possibly, but some would likely still have heard "reparations" in even that and howled.

"Look how caring we are."

No doubt. And it's not like they'll be losing a fortune when they donate to tax-deductible charities.

But it's also an anticipatory move:
They'll be on the radar of both Leftists (due to their colonial history), and of Govt. (due to their employment practices)

Apparently British govt. were considering this for some time: https://www.lexology.com/library/detail.aspx?g=7101a7c4-18d8-4062-8536-86b78d15848a but it got fast-tracked with the post-Floyd protests.
((While highly skilled BAME & intelligent BAME kids are NOT disadvantaged in the UK, apparently Banks & insurance companies like Lloyds prefer Whites to non-Whites, in lesser-skilled positions.))

Forced reparations in America would lead to massive civil disobedience and possibly a civil war.
Companies that engage in that practice are fueling racism and racial divide.

Yes indeed.

But I don't think that Radical Leftists or rich virtue signallers will be getting their way.
Among laypeople, The Aubrey/Floyd killings elicited horror and aversion to racism, but not the White privilege guilt-tripping that agitators were hoping for.
People of both colors are more focused on their day to day hassles bought by the covid recession..

Booted again Audrey?

You virtue signallers are welcome to blow each others' cocks and p..sies all day long,
since you can't afford expensive entertainment
after donating half of your savings to BAME.

Just take your hands out of MY pocket.

I'm assuming that the"war on poverty" was a taxpayer funded thing. If that's so, black America paid for that too, and it also benefitted the poor whites.

It also forced poor black and white women with children to marry the government and remove men from the household, terminating their moral roles as protectors and providers for women and the children they father.

That's been the Democrat tactic for 50 years. Buy a voting bloc.

The slave party has worked hard to keep black Americans down for 150 post-war years.

I think that xenophobia and racism are alive and well in parts of the US.
I recall when I visited two particular States. The hostile stares whenever I opened my mouth.

BUT .. those were less well- to do White neighborhoods.
I was treated better in richer ones.

There are two kinds of bigots: the old-school British classist type, and those who see you as competing for dwindling resources.

Do Leftists actually think that they make BAME any favors, by taking from middle to low wage-earning Whites in order to give to Blacks?
I don't think most BAME want that either, they want to fight racism through other means.

Lloyds of London, and the Greene King brewery and pub chain are making reparations.

Greene King, you could argue that this will be good for business, and some will claim it's nothing more than a publicity stunt.
Lloyds of London, however... I really don't see that it's the sort of business that would profit hugely from this. It's not a company that the public is likely to have direct dealings with.

The ultra-wealthy are starting to get a bit worried that the masses are on to them. The fact that many of the white working poor are joining with the movement has most likely led to this appeasement effort. Make no mistake though, everything possible will still be done to maintain the status quo behind the scenes. I would agree with those who say it's a publicity stunt. If meaningful steps aren't taken to address gross wealth disparity, and wage imbalance, this act of "reparation" is akin to putting a band-aid on a severed artery.
