I'm not disputing that she was out of line. My point is, there comes a point where it just isn't reasonable to expect civility and diplomacy. And in a state that recently uncovered a plot to kidnap and behead (and probably rape) the governor and where a Republican operative called for throwing out the vote from the biggest city simply because it was heavily Democratic, that point is quite a ways in the rearview mirror.

I fear the time has come where neither side can expect to be treated politely. There is cancel culture, violent response to disagreement between the ideologies, multiple threats to both sides, as you point out a recent one against a governor even, and calls regarding seditious behavior, secession, reeducation, well, it reads like a dystopian future novel but it is here now.

So how do we communicate? I am seeing both sides dehumanizing the other, probably past the point where they see each other as people.

Shouldn't we try to communicate calmly, getting our points across, maybe, just maybe getting the other side to think about it just a little?
