In theory, you edit the very first post and select the "delete thread" option.
In practice, deleting threads can screw up the index, so it was disabled.
(I ask this question may years ago in a different lifetime. It's possible recent releases of the VBS have fixed the problem, but who wants to chance having to rebuild the data base?)
If you are absolutely desperate, send the moderator a message and they may deign to move your thread to a place where it's no longer visible.
