Does anyone know how to remove the microphone "tick" or "thump" sound from a WAV file? I'm talking about the sound that you get when you touch or move the microphone while recording.

Thanks...

Without sophisticated spectrum analyzing/editing software, I don't think you can just remove the ticks.

The edit function of Soundrecorder or other Wav File editing software will let you adjust the volume at that particular point in the file, but it affects everything at that point, not just the tick.

The main problem with removing the ticks is that Wave files are a single complex wave-form and you need to separate the tick from the rest of the waveform to delete it.

Some wave editors try to deal with clicks and pops. The shorter duration they are, the better the results. I'd expect the feature to be present in many editors.

I think Roxio even had a seperate program intended to clean up a recording from a LP (vinyl) record, though I haven't used Roxio products for quite a while now.

Here's one program that works:

'Sony Easy Audio' has an adjustable de-clicker, de-cracker, de-popper and a couple other filters. Also has compression, EQ, reverb/echo and stuff. I think it cost about 45 bucks and the disk is copy protected.

I took a look at Sony's web site.

Yes, this looks like a good solution.

Thanks, hugs and kisses...
