Remington 700CP

Depending on the burn rate of the powder a longer barrel could increase velocity.

I think.

Does a longer barrel increase accuracy? I'll hang up and listen to your response. :)

Same round going down 12 inch barrel versus a normal 20-26 inch barrel. Big difference in velocity and performance of non-FMJ terminal performance.

Comes off as a novelty item, unless there is some new sport where this might be an advantage??

IDK....seems goofy to me. Pistols/carbines/shorties are all meant to be fast, bolt action is not fast.

Their first venture into this field, the XP100, started the sport of pistol varmint hunting and pistol steel silhouette. I can see this used in silhouette and maybe varmint with the 5.56. Maybe pistol hunting with some aftermarket magazines.

It's clever and all but it seems to be a solution in search of a problem.

And it's pricey. Both the name and the outward appearance, as far as I can see, seems to be based on the 700 receiver and trigger group. If that's the case all of that machining is sunk cost. The butt, butt tube mount, and barrel shroud are all after market stuff. The only new part they're bringing to the table is the receiver mount/mag well assembly. Hell, even the mags look like Magpul product.

their 'target market'...is anybody with enough Benjamins in their hand.

You're right on that.

Son of a bitch, I figured out what they've done there. What you're looking at is a M24E1/XM2010 system with the receiver mount/mag well casting modified on the back end to accept a buffer tube. They only had to modify one part to put this together.

Whole we're at it, why isn't this considered an SBR and require a stamp? Barrel length is less than 16.5". Is it the fact it is a bolt gun?
