what do you say to a woman who has lived a strong and independent life for nearly seven decades after she has been informed that within a month she will likely be without sight? what do you say, what do you do when you are her son?

but - before that conversation unfolds - how do you respond to the news that the gentleman who brought you into his family business some twenty-some years before has a body infested with malignant cells?

all in one day ... it is life and somewhere still out there there is hope
